Consider Kurt Thomas?

The Spurs are probably his first options but should we considering him? We know exactly what we get and Kurt provides us with more size.

I wanted to acquire Kurt Thomas last year before he was buddy dealt to San Antonio. I would probably advocate Alonzo Mourning or Dikembe first, but Thomas would be right after them on the list because he would be probably a little more expensive. My theory is a we get 15-20M a night at backup center and the rest of our front line learns from the examples set by any of these veteran bigs. Of course with our stated off-season plan I don't see having the cash to offer anything at any of these bigs unless we get relief from a Speedy retirement. We can't expect any of them to choose us at veteran minimum because of competition from other teams at that price level. We aren' close enough to the top to be more attractive the better minimum contract veterans.

Edit - I fixed my mistype on my last thought there. We aren't going to be the choice of elders yet.

He'll probably cost too much money but he would be a great addition if we could somehow land him.

Are you willing to let Childress walk in order to bring Thomas in?
