S&T Childress
for
Josh Boone and Simmons

You could add Zaza and Diop if needed.

Why for Atlanta? We obtain the interior help needed, Boone is a developing big man who did a good rookie season last year averaging 8 ppg, 7 rpg and 1 bpg in limited minutes. He could will in a good player at PF and C position and would complement Horford and Smith. Simmons can provide a spark from the bench and the needed 3 point shooting at both SG and SF position.

Why for NJ? They have a lot of big men, they will obtain their starting SF they need after the Jefferson trade, adding a developing young player that will complement Carter and help the team in all game aspects only giving one player they really don't need. Their interior rotation would still be Yi/Kristic, B. Lopez/S. Williams pretty deep.

I think the trade benefits both teams, thoughts?

Damn, how much is Childress signing for. Really not loving Bobby Simmons contract, which pays him 9.9M this year and 10.5M next. Josh Boone is making 1.2M. This deal + signing Josh Smith places us over the luxury tax threshold even if it goes up to 70M. Easy pass on the deal.

I like the counter though, Harry. Diop would give us that defensive backup C and Marcus Williams gives that 3rd PG to make saying by to Bibby next year a lot easier. We better work that angle quickly because Diop looks headed back to Dallas.

Nets fan here:

If Simmons' contract needs to be involved in this trade, that means Childress is being massively overpaid IMO.

I'd personally Childress and Claxton for Krstic and filler. The problem is getting the trade to work when you're dealing with 2 guys (Childress and Krstic) who will need to be s&t and likely BYC players as well.

It took a lot of tinkering, but I think I got a deal centered around Krstic for Childress/Claxton to work. Would love to know what you Hawk fans think about this trade.

ATL Trades: Josh Childress (s&t starting at 6 mil), Speedy Claxton, Zaza Pachulia and Soloman Jones (waived)
(total outgoing: $13,007,035)
ATL Gets: Nenad Krstic (s&t starting at $6 mil), Stromile Swift and Keith Van Horn
(total incoming $15,992,112)

NJ Trades: Nenad Krstic (s&t starting at $6 mil), Stromile Swift and Keith Van Horn
(total outgoing: $12,992,112)
NJ Gets: Josh Childress (s&t starting at $6 mil), Speedy Claxton, Zaza Pachulia and Soloman Jones (waived)
(total incoming: $16,007,035)

Why for Atlanta: They get an offensive big man and a true center in Krstic, while turning Speedy Claxton's dreadful contract into Van Horn's non-guaranteed contract.

Why for New Jersey: They fill the massive hole at SF that was created from the Jefferson trade. They also consolidate their big man situation. Claxton's a bad contract, but he expires before 2010/11 when the Nets are set to have cap room. If healthy, he gives them a veteran backup PG if they want to trade Marcus Williams.
