When Buying A Jersey

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Tue Jul 8, 2008 10:34 pm

Do you like to wait for a player to be locked into a longterm contract or do you just not care?

I'm waiting to see if both Joshes sign before I purchase both jerseys. I look at it as an investment because I want the player to be on whatever team for many years or until retirement. Al Horford is probably the exception for me.

I tend to play it extra safe ever since the Glenn Robinson debacle... I would only opt for a 'Nique or customized jersey

NFL is the hardest for me due to all the changes. I normally just stick with the retired players!

I have a few Nique jerseys and a Mookie one. I want a new jersey due to the fresh look so I continue to watch for both the Joshes.

i look for 3 things

1) colors
2) stable franchise
3) non tempermental player

that's why i went for the wade, duncan, horford. they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. i also had a webber, but that was more sacto wanting him gone than him wanting to leave.

My first question is authentic or replica? I just buy if they have my size and I really want it. Business decisions can wipe out any choice ultimately.

I'm more discerning with authentics. I have a Josh Smith (favorite player) and an Acie Law (said I'd buy a jersey if they ever drafted a PG in the 1st). Quite a few replicas like Josh, Joe, and Al. Throwbacks I have Nique, Rick Barry, and John Havlicek. I have quite a few Duke college jerseys.

I went the personalized route on my Thrashers jerseys (2 of them). I have a Blues Federko throwback.

Football I have a smattering of Cowboys jerseys like Irvin, Emmitt, Deion, Roy Williams, Julius Jones, Tony Romo, and a personalized jersey. I also have a Vick all-star jersey and a Vick Mean Machine prison jersey.

Arena league I have a personalized jersey, a Jermaine Smith, a Troy Bergeron, a Chris Greisen, and a Chris Jackson jersey.

Baseball I have a Pujols jersey and an Ozzie Smith jersey, but I've kind of disowned baseball as a sport.
