Fire Mike Woodson

I am a big time Hawks fan and I am already getting upset that Josh Smith has not been re signed yet. Then I read in an article and I don't know if its true or not but it says that him and woodson are beyond repair. Me personally, I did not Woodson back altogether and I kinda wish we would've just gotten swept for retaining him could set us back for years. Well anyways, if Woodson is the reason Smoove don't wanna come back I say fire him we don't need that trash anyways.
Anyone agree?

Woodson, will be our coach for a while. ASG backs him and he just got an extension. Smoove will probably be in a Hawks uniform next year.

i've never seen a championship team ran by the players. i'll have to side with woodson on this one.

even though neither smith nor sund have anything to gain by making a hasty decision

and i also don't think that there is as much a rift as the national reporters (the same ones that didn't give a crap about us all of a year ago) are letting on.

Sekou has expressly said that its BS, as has Woody (on 680), as have Smith's people. Until I hear something else from a source with a name, I'm probably going to believe the relevant parties and the one guy with access to them.

Don't know why Smith will say a thing like that, even having the agent spreading a rumor like that...
Won't raise his value and get any teams interested.
Everybody around the League knows that Woodson did a great job with a very young team for 3 years and brought them to a game 7 vs the Champions.
Did he do some mistakes in the process, hell yes. We all do.
Did he help the team mature and grow? Big time, including Smith. If Smith is not able to recognize that, then S&T the fool!
PS: I hope he is not a fool and that he will be back with us for a long term growth...

This report is having the effect we thought it would. It is causing people to believe Smoove is not coming back because of Woodson.

sorry but that's a joke.Woodson is the worst coach in the NBA and teams would love to play against his team every night. He sucked his way into a roster full of lotto picks and still only got 37 wins. it's not hard to improve on 13 wins, then 26 wins, then 30 wins and that was when Joe was hurt half the year.Everyone stayed healthy and was older and we only improved 7 games.Everybody in the league prolly thinks he's the joke that Hawks fans should know that he is. Who has really gotten better under him and evolved their game? Smith grew up from a high school kid but he still makes rookie mistakes.Marvin has went from nothing to just a mid range shooter in 3 seasons. Childress is just Childress and is stuck on one level,he's a very good 6th man, nothing more nothing less. Woodson is as clueless as a rookie on the sideline.

I don't like Woodson. I don't think he is a good coach at all. I think Woodson has been given too much credit for too little actual accomplishment. But he's signed a 2 year deal, so it's too late to start Fire Woodson movements. I'm content to let next season play out. He shouldn't have any more excuses as long as Smith and Childress are retained (although I expect him to make up some). If he can get the team to 50 wins, then I will admit he the right guy for the job. If the team finishes south of .500 then I wouldn't expect him to get to the finish the contract. Anywhere in between and he probably finishes out the contract, but it'll take a big year 2 (6?) in order to restore faith that he can get the team where they want to go.

I dispense the stuff about Josh Smith not being willing to play for him. I can believe that he would prefer not to play for him, but I would guess he realizes he won't get that wish any time soon given the NBA rules. Team Smith will realize that the most money they can get will be here in Atlanta and that if the team doesn't do well then Woodson won't be a long term issue. It is possible that negotiations will break down because Atlanta has an incentive to pay Josh well, but not to give him every dollar he demands. However well before the point were Josh takes the qualifying offer to gain his freedom next year is a lot of middle ground including the possibility of early termination clauses or incentives to boost value based on individual and team performance. These clauses can be added to a lower than he hoped starting salary to give Josh a chance to cash in more or later.

Mike Woodson is the coach of the Atlanta Hawks. Let's discuss this again after we see how the team performs this season.

I'm one of the bigger Woody detractors here, I'm of the opinion that if you aren't a good tactician or motivator and all of your role players regress under you, you should at least get along with your players. That being said, he might seem better if we filled some holes on the team.

Like these guys are saying, in reality it probably doesn't matter re: signing Smith and its a little too late to do anything now.

I agree.I think he's one of the worst coaches on earth but would be stupid to fire him after he got a new contract and hasn't had a chance to act (Please Use More Appropriate Word) yet.
