Nets Trying To Move Youth?

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Mon Jul 21, 2008 9:20 pm

The move likely will mean the end of Marcus Williams' days in New Jersey. Heading into his third year in the league, Williams has been plagued by injuries so far. He's missed parts of the last two seasons and has averaged 6.4 points and three assists in his career.

The Nets are said to be looking to package Williams and one of their other young players, such as forwards Josh Boone or Sean Williams, for a veteran. They still have eight players on their roster with two years' or less experience in the league.

With an abundance of big men on their roster, the Nets are also said to be looking into sign-and-trade scenarios involving restricted free agent Nenad Krstic, who missed the majority of the last two seasons due to a left ACL injury. Thorn has said that it's still possible Krstic will play for the Nets next season, but that is seeming more and more unlikely.

Either Boone or Sean Williams paired with Marcus Williams for Zaza would have been interesting, but it would overload at PG until Speedy goes down with an injury.

trade Bibby then.maybe we can get Denver to sign and trade J.R. Smith to replace Childress for Bibby. Not exactly a trade proposal but that's who I would want invloved.

zaza is just an expiring contract at this point- he doesn't have significant trade value past that.

Your right and I expect him to sign overseas once he becomes a free agent. Will see.......

I still hold out a little hope that some team would value a year of Zaza (Seattle or Houston) or his expiring deal, but realistically I expect him to finish out his time here and sign in Milan or another European fashion center.

G-State acquires Marcus Williams for a future first.

Good for both sides. GSW gets their backup for Monta at a low price and NJ doesn't have to give up attentional talent to get rid of Williams.
