If the Hawks are trying to win now, Horry would be an excellent addition.

Got to disagree with this. Robert shows up at playoff time. Unfortunately, we need help just to get there.

I'm thinking the playoffs are a given with the talent on the roster. This is a tough minded bunch

Elson, Elton Brown, Farmer, etc, they can get productive FA bench players.

I'm thinking this team can take the next two steps. They'll need a PJ Brown, Cassell, Horry type to do that.

For the record, I have a man-crush on Robert Horry. He's been my favourite player on the championship Spurs teams, and I get tingles down my spine every time I see the replay of him checking Nash. Heck, the only piece of major sports memorabilia I have is a signed pic of Big Shot Rob taking The Shot in '05; it's hanging in the most prominent spot with my family pictures in my house. Even my wife loves Horry (2nd to Bowen, tied with JJ).

All that being said, Horry can't help the Hawks, except for the postseason, and with Woodson as coach, that might not matter. His body's broken down too much, he'd be as useful as Speedy Claxton or Mike Hampton. And for the amount of money that would probably be required to sign him, it would be much more productive to sign someone who won't be a permanent fixture on the not-playing list. If it came to getting a 14th or 15th man, sure; nothing like Vet leadership, even if it's what would essentially be an assistant coaching roll. But I don't see Horry doing that, not for the Hawks anyway, not cheaply.

But if they did sign him, I'd be the first in line for his jersey.

it's not that talent. It's the coach that keeps us out of the playoffs. Our team was better than 37 wins and the 8th seed but Woodson put us there.

You have a point, but don't forget that the talent on our team regardless of who the coach is was a lot better than its record mainly because we traded for Bibby. I'm telling you, if we had Bibby throughout the whole season, we would of won at least five or so more games.

yeah but we don't know that for sure. That's an opinion just like it's my opinion that our record would've been better if Acie didn' get hurt and started all year.
