Artest traded to Rockets

Post#1 » by fo_o_fo_404 » Wed Jul 30, 2008 2:51 am

Apparently for Bobby Jackson and Donte Greene....

Wow!! That's an interesting development.

I wonder what would it have taken to get Artest here in the ATL?

I am sort of intrigued by the question of whether the Kings would have preferred the package they got to Marvin Williams.

Wow, two trades that I was in favor of. I even pitched a Barbosa trade. I think I'm going to change my signature line to: "We could have had Artest. We could have had Barbosa. We could have been great. Seriously look at this:

Hortford
Smoove
Artest
JJ
Bibby

Bench:
Zaza/Morris
Evans
Barbosa
Law

Why God? Why? :banghead:

Wait, wait. With that line-up we probably would have used the MLE on Kwame and Rush to fill out the roster better:

Hortford
Smoove
Artest
JJ
Bibby

Bench:
Kwame/Zaza
Rush
Barbosa
Law

Well, I didn't see Artest and Bibby being reunited. We probably should have gone for Artest although we will have to see how he pans out in Houston. But we needed a PG at the time and I thought that was the right move based on what we had to give up. We weren't making progress with that roster.

That's all pure speculation. Shut up with these bitching and moaning comments about we could of had Player A for Player B. No one really cares what your sig is either, no one's opinion will be changed by it.

If you don't care what he has for his sig then why did you think you had to make a post quoting him and telling him to shut up?

What, kb, you need to have a monopoly on that sort of behavior?

Indeed, in fact I think you should probably read his current sig, "Pointing Out What Is Wrong With Other People's Posts Is Easy, Helping Them Develop Their Ideas Takes Skill" and learn something from it.

Anyway, I'd bet they prefer the Donte' Greene package. I guess its a question of proven talent vs. financial flexibility. In Sacto's case I could see why they wouldn't want to make a decision on Marv next year when they are still experiencing so much roster turnover.

On Houston's side its kind of a no-brainer. Battier and Artest together gives them a full fledged stopper on the floor at any time in the game and Artest's offensive abilities make up for losing Jackson.

I like the trade for Houston although it will be interesting to see which Artest they get. If he plays within the system he is as devastating as almost anyone in the league, but he can get is weird mode where he just chucks up 3 pointers and kills whatever offensive flow the team is supposed to have. Worth the risk though.

As for us, did we make a play for Artest? Would we have offered Marvin Williams? The deal would look good on paper, but I wasn't sure how accepting the team would be of character issues. Also, the rumor from Sacramento was that Bibby and Artest couldn't stand each other. Makes me wonder if reuniting them would have worked?

Good trade for Ron Artest and the Houston Rockets. It's also a good trade for the Kings if they do indeed acquire a future first as well.

I expect Ron to be Ron, but I also expect him to behave him self, because he's going to be looking for a similar contract like the one Corey Maggette received.

If it's true, sure ASG wouldn't have try to get him, maybe even for less than Marvin.
Now, I don't remember any rumor On Bibby/Miller, and it seems that SAC could be trying to trade him (CHI already talked to them).
Having Horford/Miller/Smith on the C/PF position could be great, but even if SAC want cap relief, I don't know if we can offer enough.
Zaza+Speedy+pick ?
