is Sund already worst than Knight???
even though Knight has a horrible overall basketball philosophy, you would think that Knight would have Smoove signed by now!!!!

yes he is!
As stubborn as he is I think Knight was close to both Joshes & i think both would have signed a contract with us if he was still here.

Sund hasn't botched any draftpicks yet. I think the ASG are the cause of this problem. with smith.. its not like Sund has been authorized to offer more and he just doesn't want to. The owners are negotiating this

I just don't get this. Do you think that BK could convince Smith and Childress to sign for less money? Do you think he would have just offered more than the ASG were authorizing him to pay?

I blame the ASG for the lack of movement. Sund on the other hand brought back Coach Woodson and Billy Knight was wanting to show him the door, so I must lean towards Billy Knight when it comes to the coach. No draft picks for Sund to blow, but I don't trust him picking for us, and the future will tell the story.

The ownership kneecapped Billy Knight when they refused to fire Mike Woodson, so he would be pretty worthless if he was still here. Sund doesn't strike me as any more powerful. IMO, as a GM he isn't here to run basketball operations as much as he's the representative of the ownership group which is very hands on.
I understand Sund statements that negotiations shouldn't be conducted through the media. However, he and the ASG haven't built up any credibility points to make the fans believe they are negotiating at all. That is unless you count waiting for the other side to realize they can choose between two options that aren't particularly to the liking of the free agent as negotiation.

WOW.
Is two months of Sund really worse than five horrendous years that included Marvin over Chris Paul, Chill over Deng, Shelden over Roy/Foye, and the signings of Speedy Claxton and Lo Wright?! How does deciding to retain Woody make Sund worse than that?

Sund or Knight is like arguing between Turds or Turnips.
Sund hasn't had enough time to do the damage that Knight did, but he's certainly off to a similar start. No way that 2 months of incompetence can compare to 5 solid years of hideous personnel decisions.
The bottom line is that Sund looks like a complete puppet of the disastrous Atlanta Ass-Clown Group.

I just don't see what you think that Sund could have done differently this offseason given what the ASG have given him to work with. Its not his fault they aren't willing to offer Smith enough money. Its not his fault that they weren't willing to offer Childress enough.
BK can't blame the owners for taking Marvin Williams
BK can't blame the ASG for taking Childress.
BK can't blame the ASG for taking Shelden Williams.
BK can't blame the ASG for signing Lo Wright
BK can't blame the ASG for signing Speedy Claxton.

KB, I'm starting to believe there is more to these picks and that the story will never be told unless Billy Knight writes a book. That book would be dollar store bound, but still, it would be nice to hear his side of the story. All I'm saying is that I believe the ASG played a bigger role.
680 the fan had someone close to the franchise on shortly after Sund was hired and they even said numerous people and scouts inside the organization told Billy to pass on Chris Paul. The ASG probably love the fact that the majority of the fans have pointed the finger at Billy over the years instead of them.
When a ownership doesn't allow it's GM to do their job I have a problem with that. The fan base is going to officially disappear if Josh Smith is traded. Remember Billy Knight did select him!! That's the one diamond we have from his picks and yet it's the only one the fans will probably remember years from now if he's traded. The ASG have the puppet Sund to shield them from the blame, but I pray it backfires, and at some point forces the ASG to put a for sale sign outside the Philips Arena.

HMFFL- you honestly think that even after BK has left the franchise that he wouldn't have told ANYONE that he really wanted to take Chris Paul but was vetoed?

Knight wasn't treated right in Atlanta. He made some bad decisions, and that's what many of the fans here judged him by. Not only was he driven out of Atlanta because of the fans, but the owners didn't let him do what he wanted to do. He wanted to fire Woodson twice, and he wasn't given the chance to do so. I believe Knight deserved much better. Sure, he passed on Chris Paul and drafted some other draft busts, but he also did a pretty good job IMO in making a young team that could compete in the playoffs for a couple years. Obviously after he took off (for obvious reasons), we let Childress walk, and we're struggling to resign one of the best young players in the league for a very reasonable price.
