How many guards do the Hawks need? I want to see Acie getting more time, not less.

He is the only guard off the bench who is a scoring threat. As long as he signed for the minimum then it seems like a nice move.

Nice signing..reliable guard off the bench, and is alot better than our other options off the bench besides Evans.

Well, he put up some good numbers for Indy in the last month, so maybe he can help us off the bench.
Now, we probably see this rotation off the bench:

Zaza/Evans/Acie/Murray/Morris and maybe Hunter or Gardner or Richardson. Count on the latter 3 to be practice players.

Looking at this link from last year, it tells me Indy started him the last month of the season and look what he did against us:

Are we adding more PG depth or is something else in the offering? We now count Bibby, Acie, Charles and Ronald as PGs.

Jeremy probably isn't going to make the team and I don't think Sund is expecting much out of Speedy this year.

I expect Flip to be more of a combo guard, maybe getting more minutes backing up Joe. I don't think they want anything from Craig Claxton other then for someone to take him off our hands. Which is not going to be easy with that pricetag.

I like this signing a lot. Improves the depth of the team and he is a Vet who has been around. I guess this means Mo is likely the backup SF to Marvin. Hunter will likely be Smoove backup.

Wasn't expecting it, but have no problems with it. It's was necessary to hedge in the backcourt considering Law's inexperience and Claxton's knees. Hopefully he will provide some scoring punch for the second unit.

Good signing.
Makes 14 players under contract, we have to wait for the salary to see if we still have part of MLE or not to add a 15th player for more than minimum.
We only need a backup C who could block some shots now.

During his quick stint with the Pacers.....despite JO'B using him as a PG off the bench ( thinking that he could be a "creator" on the offense ).....Flip was better as a decent scorer off the bench as a SG. He's good at scoring from the outside and driving to the hoop...but the only knock that I have on him is that he tends to dominate the ball.....if he has the ball in his hands...there's a very good chance that he will try to score....as opposed to looking for a player to pass to.

With the Pacers last season when he was primarily on the floor with our primary Starters and 6th men....this wasn't a good thing. But if he's coming off the bench as a 8th/9th Man......it maybe okay.

You REALLY don't like Bibby, eh?

I like the Flip acquisition. The three things I thought we needed coming into the season were a shooter/defender off the bench, a big man that could rebound and defend, and a combo guard who could create his own shot. Evans was a perfect fit, Kwame would have been nice but we are gonna have to cross our fingers for the Zaza/Morris/Hunter squad, and Flip is a perfect fit as well (for the money at least - a better 3pt. shot would have helped).

I don't see Flip spending that much time playing with the starters. It will be interesting to see how Flip and Acie play together. Acie will likely be the primary pg anyways. We have gotta get him develop as soon as possible.

Thats what we are looking for, we need someone to come off the bench and create their own shot. If he is a good enough set shooter to play off JJ, even better but that is less important.

I have always liked Flip, and thought he would be a great addition for the Hawks in the past, the problem is that I don´t think is the best moment to sign him.

- I thought we would need more a backup SF and a big, this signing deletes one of them if not both, we would be better with this two guys.
- I hope we uses him right and this does not mean Law gets less minutes, he should be a scorer off the bench.
- This also means that we could be looking to trade Bibby at trade deadline wich I don´t like.
- I had some hopes in Gardner that now is dead.
- I hope Evans do not become a backup SF? He is not a SF, he is a SG.
- I suppose managment see no options for Speedy to play this season because Flip is the same player as Bibby and Law and Speedy provides something different.

I like the signing and think he can provide some help but is kind of redundant with the current roster we have. We have to improve our frontcourt and a guy like Gelabale, athletic, quick, defensive minded, good shooter SF would have been better than Flip.
