Dominique Wilkins or Steve Smith

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Tue Nov 11, 2008 1:25 am

Who do you prefer calling the game?

I personally don't feel Dominique should be calling the game longterm. Sorry Nique, but it's just constructive criticism.

A better question would be:

Do you prefer
a) Bob Rathbun
b) a punch in the face

<----- (jabs self in face)

HHF can continue to grow on the job. In the meantime, I've discovered the value of the volume button on my remote.

I'd much prefer Smitty, but he's on a career trajectory that transcends SportSouth and FSN South. Any of his ex-teammates lounging around that could do a good job? What's Hendu doing these days? Laettner? Mookie? I'd like Dikembe myself. :D

Nique...... it is interesting to hear when he talks about what he would do in certain situation in a game, especially as a number one option, and a guy who takes it upon himself to carry a team.

Nique has to be one of the worst in the entire league. I thought Smitty was repetitive, but we're only 5 games in and I can already predict what Nique is about to say 80% of the time. His favorites being "heat check" and "there's nothing you can do about that."

hahahaha

I would actually sell my season tickets, and watch every game at home on tv just to listen to Dikembe announce Hawks games. Seriously.

I'd have to go with Smith aslo. Nique is ok, but what other teams has a front office guy calling games? Looks like some Jackie Moon do-it-all kinda thing.

Smitty is way better hands down. But I think that Dominique has been getting a little better lately, hopefully he keeps getting better. He has absolutely no sense of humor though...at least Rathbun tries.

Mutombo AKA Cookie Monster would be hilarious though!!!!

Smitty and it's not even close. Anyone who watches LP knows how lucky we are to have had Rathbun/Smitty, they were truly one of the best teams out there. There's a reason that Smitty was hired by NBA TV, because he's damn good as an analyst.

Nique sucks. He's a HUGE homer, offers very little analysis, and speaks like a fan rather than an announcer. Rathbun is very good, so maybe he can work with Nique and they can improve as the season goes on.

Yeah..Nique is pretty bad as an analyst. He always gives excuses for missing shots for some reason(every contested jumper early in the shotclock is apparently a heat check) and he always talks about how bad the Hawks would have to play to blow the lead they have as if isn't obvious. I also didn't like how he(and Rathburn) disrespected Durant's ROY. It's ok to say that you thought Al should have won but they basically gave Durant no credit what so ever due to being on a terrible team.

^^^ Yep. We literally went from having one of the best announcing teams (with Smitty) out there to having one of the worst.

You need to lay of the crack. Bob Rathbun is such a tool. I sometimes turn the sound off he irritates me so much.

Really? I like Rathbun a lot. He's definetely a little lame but his actual play-by-play is really good (probably one of the reasons he gets to do big time ACC games for Raycom) and he does his homework.

At halftime of the Bulls game, Nique said they needed to continue containing Derrick Rose who had 10 pts and 5 assists in the 1st half. I don't think "Contain" means what Nique thinks it means.

Steve Smith was more smooth, but Nique is an Atlanta icon. I'm not going to begrudge him any role with the team.
