Bosh in Atlanta
I suck at math, I hate math, and I dont wanna check to see if this is possible salarywise, but if we dont resign Marvin and Speedy's salary gets off our back, is it possible to get Bosh in 2010? Of course Bibby's salary would be smaller too (but Joe would be up for a resigning by then too) what is the possibility yall? Think about this starting 5
Bibby (or maybe if he wants too much another good pg who wont cost an arm and leg like Andre Miller)
Joe Johnson
Josh Smith
Al Horford
Chris Bosh
I know that Josh has sucked at the 3 before, but maybe if he works on his quickness so he can guard the quicker SFs and is finally convinced that he aint a 3 point shooter (I know this is very much wishful thinking) but is it possible salarywise?

No, Joe Johnson to Toronto in 2010 (Bryan Colangelo Connections + 38 mil cap relief) - but you never know bosh has motivation to go to Atlanta considering the fact that he played for the university of Georgia Tech + i think most of his cousins live in Atlanta.

I dont understand what your saying. Your not speaking in complete sentences. Are you saying No, unless we trade Joe to Toronto for Bosh? and that Joe and Colangelo have connections? Because my point is not trading for Bosh, he is a FA in 2010. I was wondering if dropping Marvin and Speedy's contract (and possibly signing another pg instead of Bibby) would free enough cap space to sign Bosh

I expect JJ to get an extension next summer.

Re: Bosh in Atlanta
That's very unrealistic. Bosh is their franchise player, I'm sure they'll do whatever to keep him. We'll probably do the same with JJ. He's very likely going to get an extension before any team has any chances of getting him from us.
GO HAWKS.

reazun- JJ is a FA that offseason as well and will count against the cap as a max contract.
But right now the only hawks salaries for the 2010 season are Smith, Horford, and Law who count around 20 million combined. Just depends on what happens to Childress (who counts as 10.8 million until he is renounced), Marvin, Bibby, and Zaza past that.
But sure- as long as you are dreaming of Bosh, why wouldn't raptor fans dream of getting JJ as an UFA that same offseason?

okay, so its impossible then? yeah i dont have a problem with them wanting Joe, i was just confused on what boshjonesford was trying to state in his post. If we cant get Bosh unless we drop Joe then it aitn worth it.

Re: Bosh in Atlanta
we would have to gut the team to get bosh here and keep joe (a pre-requisite for any chance of bosh getting here) in the long run we wouldn't have much of a bench to do anything and really we would have to probably lose horford for it to happen. (we could trade josh smith, but that would make the signing even less possible.)

Bryan Colangalo the GM of the Raptors knows Joe Johnson very well from their Phoenix days. In 2010 they Bosh and Oneal will be free Agents which means we will have 38 mil cap space from 2 players. in the summer of 2010 we will Bosh and another all star caliber player (lot of people in TO believe its Joe Johnson)

Re: Bosh in Atlanta
I would say that Detroit has a better shot at landing both Bosh and JJ than either the Hawks or Raptors have at keeping one and adding the other... They will have the cap room to do it and Joe Dumars is one sneaky devil.
Of course, I hope we lock Joe up to another deal long before any other suitor has a chance at him.

Re: Bosh in Atlanta
i have been thinking about this for a while.... what if the Hawks overpaid for Tyson Chandler instead of trying to go after Bosh? Horford/Bosh looks good, but Tyson/Horford looks more traditional and defense oriented.
i have been saying this every since the Bibby trade, but instead of Joe/Bosh, what about Joe/Lebron?
but this would mean that Marvin would have to walk. but even if Lebron falls through, the Hawks will still have enough cap space to make a decent run at Dirk, Josh Howard, or TMac, etc.
