ATL/CLE/LAC/ORL - where'd I go wrong?

Post#1 » by parson » Mon Nov 24, 2008 6:45 pm

The trade is ID #4834714.

ATL sends Mike Bibby to the Clippers and Marvin Williams/Al Horford to ORL, receiving Dwight Howard/Jason Hart/Keith Bogans/Brian Cook.

CLE sends Wally Szczerbiak to ORL, receiving Rashard Lewis.

LAC sends Chris Kaman to ORL and Jason Hart to the Hawks, receiving Mike Bibby.

ORL sends Rashard Lewis to CLE and sends Dwight Howard/Keith Bogans/Brian Cook to ATL, receiving Marvin Williams/Al Horford/Chris Kaman/Wally Szczerbiak.

ORL gets a lineup (Kaman/Horford/Williams/Turkoglu/Nelson) that makes sense, with Szcerbiak/Pietrus/AJ/Battie in reserve.

LAC gets a much better guard rotation with Davis/Bibby/Gordon.

CLE can easily replace Szczerbiak; Lewis fills a position of need with a good 3pt. shooter.

ATL falls to the floor, frothing at the mouth in shock.

I'd love to hear the logic as to why this trade wouldn't work.

Without going beyond the first part, I don't think Orlando trades Dwight Howard for anyone in the league right now with the [probabl] exception of Lebron James.

The new Orlando is quite a bit worse than the current one, even if it looks more "balanced" and it doesn't have the franchise cornerstone in Dwight Howard.

ummmm.... Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis are leaving for Al Horford, Marvin Williams, and Chris Kaman... Orlando is getting screwed... why would they give up the most dominant big man in the NBA right now? They are giving up their #1 and #2 players for a scrub center (Kaman), Marvin and Horford... NO WAY!

Orlando would send 3 first rounders and 2.4 Billion dollars in cash to get this done.

Welllll, I count Lewis as a negative for ORL; he really seems to be a poor match. So I thought turning his long contract into an expiring one had value.

Horford is a definite talent, Kaman is a 7footer who has been better in the past and Marvin has a world of talent.

I hoped to find out how close I was.

Let me turn your question around: you really thought you were contributing anything worthwhile with your post?

Jerry Springer once said that people watched his shows because they had lousy lives and derived pleasure at the prospect of finding others worse off.

Feel better?

How can you rip people who come here and make ridiculous proposals to get Josh Smith and then post something like this? The Magic are not trading their franchise player.

Dude this isn't the MLB. Teams don't just trade away their franchise players unless they are like 28+ years old and going to leave anyway or are nicknamed VC.

Rashard Lewis is not a need for the Cavs.
