This move would help our low post scoring in the halfcourt and when in shape he runs the court well

Change in Team Outlook: -4.8 ppg, -6.0 rpg, and -0.9 apg.

I think the Hawks would easily have to do that if it were brad miller but I can't see why sacramento has any reason to trade him for scraps like that.

Looking at Brad Miller infos, I was surprised he's already 32 years old. I thought he was 29-30.
When his contract will end, next season, he will be 34. Not sure he's in the long or even mid term project of SAC, so they could be interested by a salary dump, maybe with a future protected first.
Meanwhile, I am not sure about the contract situation of Speedy. It seems that if he retires this year, he could be off the cap next year, but is it the same if he gets traded, will his new team be able to dump his salary.

If he is traded then his new team would get no salary cap relief. That makes him far more of a risk for any other team than the Hawks. Of course if Speedy still intends to play then this is irrelevant.

KB,. any idea if a team trading for Claxton will be able to insure his contract at 80%?

If so, that's a pretty good deal for the Kings' financially...

I feel rather sure that when jamal mashburn was traded from the hornets to sixers it was a straight cap deal where the new team did it because his contract was going to be covered 80% by insurance.

That's right. I remember his salary was counting against the cap, but it was mainly covered by insurance.
So there's a little possibility a team would want Speedy.
