Your Eastern All Star Team

Post#1 » by Harry10 » Tue Dec 9, 2008 3:20 pm

C: Dwight
F: KG
F: Lebron
G: Joe
G: Wade

Joe needs to pick up his game alittle bit, but he should be able to lock up his first starting spot on the All Star team.

interestingly enough, Horford actually has a decent shot at making his first All Star team, because the center position is so weak in the east. Bogut will probably get the 2nd spot, but Horford might be able to beat out Okafor, and Dalembert.

Smoove has a steap hill to climb because of his injury. he really needs start putting up some big numbers. Bosh, Caron, Granger, and Peirce are going to be hard to beat out.

It would be nice if Joe started. Would folks go with AI just on his career numbers?

the problem is that the fans will vote wade in as a SG. with harris or rose going in as PG. joe's best bet will be with the coaches. i think he'll get the nod as the backup SG.

i'm pretty sure when you vote, you vote for G, F, and Cs, you don't split it up into SG and PGs.

I'd go with Wade/Harris at the guard positions at this point. Joe has a spot locked up as a reserve though.

Vince and Ray Allen have gotten off to good starts. Even if JJ keeps playing well i don't think he is a sure thing. No way would he be a starter.

I forgot about VC. He has come back from the dead this year and is playing great basketball.

Joe made it last year when he didn't deserve it at all. I'd be awfully surprised if he didn't make it this year when he does and the Hawks have a good record

JJ was a controversial pick last year.

Last year VC wasn't playing as well as he is now and they werent going to take 2 players from a losing team. Ray wasn't playing as well last year either. Since they won a ring he might get in this year.

The Pistons put 4 guys in the All-Star game the year after they won the title.

Fans vote, so I see the guards being A.I. and Wade. Harris and Joe will be the reserves IMO. LBJ, KG, and Howard will be the fans votes for Forward and Center, while P.P., Granger, and Bosh will be reserves.

So I see this:

A.I./Harris
Wade/JJ
LBJ/Pierce/Granger
KG/Bosh
Howard

with LBJ and Granger prob playing some mins at PF and Bosh at C. Correct me if I'm wrong, but coaches doesn't have to add a back-up C right? Just have a PF like Bosh be the back-up. Therefore, Horford has a hard chance at being an All-star, due to coaches not needing to add ture centers in as reserves.

Many people thought Turkolou or Calderon should have gotten in over Joe At the time of the AS game and this board thought that Smith should have gone in over Joe. Joe was barely shooting 40 percent at the time of the AS game last year. I also don't think Butler(who is still good but his team sucks)or Hamilton will make it this year. Joe would be a lock if the game were to start today IMO.

Starting
C- Howard
PF- Kevin Garnett
SF- Lebron James
SG- Dwayne Wade
PG- Allen Iverson

Back Ups

PF- Bosh
SG- Joe Johnson
PG- Devin Harris
SF- Danny Granger
SF- Paul Pierce

WC- Vince Carter
WC- Ray Allen

Thats what it will probably be. However, if anyone of these players gets injured or stats goes down then Smith will have a shot(if his PPG can get to at least 16). but this is what its probably be.

Josh doesn't have a shot unless he kicks it up into high gear, most importantly he'd have to get back to playing the sort of D he was playing in those first three games when people like Hollinger in the Nat'l media were saying he was looking like dpoy.

Its ridiculously hard tomake your first allstar game when you miss a significant amount of time leading up to the game. You need to leave no doubt that you belong and sometimes that still isn't enough

The coaches will never pick Smith for the All-Star game as long as he keeps jacking 3s no matter what else he does.

Actually the only All-Star the Pistons had in 2005 (the year after they won the title) was Ben Wallace, and he was voted in by the coaches.

The year the Pistons had 4 All-Stars was the year they won 64 games (started the season 37-5 and had not lost more than 2 games each month heading into February) and there was debate on whether they would win 70.

I just wanted to share that Josh Smith is shooting a higher percentage from 3 than Dwayne Wade or Shawn Marion right now. Just saying that jacking 3s isn't a disqualifying offense for all-star consideration.

Lack of televised games kill the hopes of any starting all-star spots. Joe Johnson is the only all-star on the Hawks at this point with the difference being if he's named that you won't have people questioning if he deserves it (unlike the last 2 years). If the team continues to win then maybe they'll get the media attention after that you start getting the recognition. It's a journey.

Please everyone, vote anyone but Garnett.

I would LOVE to see him have to be voted in by the coaches.
