How much would it take for you to re-sign Joe Johnson?

Pretty simple question. I'm wondering what y'all think Johnson will be worth when he is looking to sign his next contract in 2010.

5 years, $100M.
He'll get a max offer from someone.

Joe can get 100 million yes, but I doubt he gets what Gilbert was offered originally, and ended up signing for. Comes down to popularity and how marketable the player is. Gilbert has been a fan favorite for years, has a top 10 selling jersey, and doesn't shy a way from any attention.
The ASG better prepare themselves.

max contract.
plain and simple.
joe johnson is prob the second most likely player to leave his team in 2010 behind amare stoudmire. i think that if we aren't at least a legit contender to get to the east finals by next year, sund better be sweatin bullets trying to keep him.

i really want Joe Johnson in Raptors but i see him sticking around with the hawks since they are a young and up and coming team

Signing Joe should be a priority THIS offseason and not next. We need to lock the guy up before the better franchises have a chance to throw $$$ his way.

A max extension would be 5 yrs, $113M, I believe. I wouldn't do that, but I'd start the talks at around $80M.

I agree... I give JJ whatever he wants this off-season. I guess that makes me a terrible business man, but a very happy Hawks fan. Unfortunately looking at how stubborn we were with Josh Smith a few months ago I am not too optimistic about locking Joe up before he hits the market.

Joe will be unrestricted so they can't really play hardball in negotiations. He'll cost the max. A lot of teams are gearing up to pay Lebron/Wade/Bosh and they can't all land them. That'll mean there will be a lot of suitors to compete with.

It would make sense to sign him to the max deal. He's a game changer, the face of the team, and most importantly, a leader. I think he's a Top 3 shooting guard in the league. It would be dumb of us not to resign him to whatever deal he would like.

He'll require a max contract. And given his history, I expect he'll resign here. We can offer him the most money and he's "the man" here. Remember, he gave up possible multiple championships in Phoenix because we offered him more money and a chance to be "the man." I think he's more interested in that than playing for a legit contender. And that's not a knock on Joe - I think 85% of the players in the league are exactly the same.

I don't see him going to T.O. (no offense, I love Toronto personally). If he were to leave it would be to a bigger market team with a better shot to win a title. Somewhere like NY if Bron ends up here. Maybe Detroit depending on what's doing there.
I think we'll have to overpay Joe (again) to keep him but I'm not sure there's an alternative unless we were to trade him now, which is something I'm eve less comfortable doing.

The nightmare scenario is that the Knicks clear enough space to offer the max for both Joe and Lebron. That would be ridiculously hard to pass up. Fun system, huge market, great chance to win. Thats the trifecta right there.

I thought Bosh was their secondary target?

I don't think that anyone has any idea what the real plan is. I think the main idea is "clear enough room and Lebron plus one other max FA will come in". I don't think the Knicks even know who is most likely to jump at this point.

The Knicks have to hope that Cleveland doesn't win one next season (and especially not this season AND next season) because as much as I think Bron wants to move to NY, any reason for that: fame, money, exposure, etc. can be gained moreso in winning titles.

Not a max contract performance against Boston for Joe and the same goes for when we face other elite teams. I'd like to see Joe be more consistent against the elite teams and dominate the ball more.
