Will Mike Woodson ever be over .500 as the Hawks coach?

Right now he is 121-231 which is good for a .344 record. I actually think he can do it. Obviously a lot rides on players staying here, staying healthy, etc. He would have to be +111 which is like 5+ 50 win seasons. Just interesting to think about. What do you guys think about?

Ha! I've actually thought about this, too.
No, I don't think he'll ever get there.

Interesting thought, but I think the hole is too deep. It would take 6 50 win seasons in a row to reach .500. Realistically to get a chance at 6 straight 50 win seasons you need some post season success as well or expectations get you run out as a coach (see Detroit).
BTW, 3 60 win seasons would do it as well. That would be something.

Woody isn't the long term answer here. I don't think he would be able to keep the job long enough to get back to .500.

He'll get close, but probably fall short. I think he'll be here at least another 3 or 4 years. Now that our young guys are starting to come into their own and appear to have bought into his defensive philosophy - we're starting to turn things around. But it's rare for an NBA coach to stick with one team for too many years...

i doubt it, i could see him leaving in maybe two years. after awhile the expectations get too great.

I wouldn't mind him staying for longer IF and only if we brought in a bizarro Tom Thibodeau. Maybe if Eddie Jordan doesn't get a HC offer somewhere (unlikely) we could bring him in as a "special assistant" but I'm skeptical because that sort of thing only happens with teams that have a lot of money (Lakers w/ Winters and Boston with Tom).

When you have a 13-69 season, it's hard to get to 0.500 anytime soon. It's been 4 losing seasons so far, so unless we give a J. Sloan kind of treatment to him, he'll never get that mark.

What SkyHawk said.............
Woody probably will be around long enough to see the current roster go as far as it can go. Then a change will be needed.
Perhaps Detroit will come after him sooner than later.

this is great time to reference woodson's first head coaching game ever, a nice 30 point loss to the sun
antoine walker went 1 for 6 from the line and childress had 10 pts in 18 min!!
