Will Smoove ever learn he cant handle the ball?

Post#1 » by ATL DirtyBird » Sun Dec 28, 2008 5:14 am

I know im not the only one that thinks this is a problem but its starting to get annoying. He cost us the Maverick game late when he turned it over when we could of tied it. He tries to carry the ball up the court and make a move. His post moves sometimes revolve way to much on dribbling. Hes still very clumsy. We can work around it but they need to get it through his head that he cant dribble or shoot.
Quick statement. I think Marvin has potential to be something special. I just wish the staff would unleash him, i guess the right word.
Also we need to thank Mark Price for the miracle work hes done with Mike Bibby.
Gimme ur thoughts guys!
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Mark Price should spend a lot of time with Josh. During shooting drills, Price should be barking instructions to Josh about when to shoot and when not to shoot. Price should be barking at Josh about how to stroke the 3 effectively while he's taking a shower, when he eats, when he goes home and even while he's sleeping.

I hope Mark Price understands the knowledge that whenever Josh Smith shoots a three there are 1 to a million chance he will make it.

Is there a dribbling coach, by the way? How I wish the Hawks can hire Marques Haynes to teach Josh how to dribble effectively.

Watching Smith try to lead a fast break is about as annoying as watching him shoot 3s. Smith has a lot of talent and heart but he needs to get his head out of his ass. This is his 5th year and it is time for him to play like it.

At one point vs Pacers today, he was about to go one-on-one with Granger when he fumbled the ball. That was like "WTF?" to me. I don't know, I don't want to become a Josh Smith hater though but Josh is still making a difference out there.

If he could stay under control a little more and learn how to handle and protect the ball he would be an all star no doubt in my mind. Its just sickening that he doesnt seem to listen unless Mike Woodson is approving of is illadvised shots and attempts to take to the basket like a (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Well see if he progresses throughtout the year which I doubt he will even though if he could we would be much much better.

"High bounce, wobbly dribble."

^^^That's what I call it.

It's rather frightening.
