Smith still hurting

Post#1 » by tontoz » Sun Dec 28, 2008 3:39 pm

• ACHES AND PAINS: Hawks power forward Josh Smith had just three blocked shots in the four games before Saturday, a stunning development for one of the league’s best shot blockers. But Smith acknowledged before Saturday’s game that he is playing on a sore left ankle that has been bothering him for some time. “I didn’t re-injure myself or anything,” Smith said of the high ankle sprain he suffered four games into the season, an injury that cost him 12 games after that. “I’m just not able to get that explosive lift off my left leg the way I’m used to. It’s a little more work than I’m used to but I’m adjusting to it.”

Like many of you i had noticed Smith hasnt been himself defensively lately. Now we know why. I suspected that he wasn't fully recovered because i have never seen him just let guys go near the basket.

The headline of this article is talking about bibby wanting a shot at the 3 pt contest. I don't think there is any question that he has earned it. He is currently tied for 2nd in the NBA in 3 pointers made and is shooting nearly 44%.

That makes sense. Josh hasn't even been trying to block shots lately and that is not like him.
