First game of the year for the Hawks and is a tough one against the Nets in New Jersey. But this one should be a different story because Josh Smith is back baby!!!

Atlanta favored to win by 4½ and the over/under is 197.

NJ beat us back 2 back earlier during the season. Time for some revenge!

Great first half by the Hawks. 20-point lead baby.

I just don't like it when the Hawks fall asleep in the second half.

This 2nd half has been a joke. I can't count how many offensive rebounds and wide open threes we've given up. This is why it's tough to be too happy with the Hawks record....they are still a dumb team that has no idea how to play 48 minutes of smart/focused basketball. I also hope this is the last game we have to play New Jersey this year..they play out of their minds vs us for some reason.

This game shouldn't even be going into OT. I'm sure the "Joe choked vs Boston" people will make no mention of the Hawks missing 6 of their last 7 free throws. Smith also needs to stop playing so dumb.

The whole team "choked" at the free throw line tonight. How can you miss 7 of 8 free throws at ANY point during the game? The amount of unforced errors this team makes is unbelievable.

The Hawks finally capitalize off a dumb play by the Nets...but by the way this is going we are going to get killed at the end like we did in Boston.

I guarantee that Boston, Cleveland, Orlando, or anyone else considered good would not blow a 20 pt lead.

I knew Carter was going to hit that-The Hawks did not deserve to win and put themselves in a position for them to lose. I really hope Woody doesn't suck up to Vince by hitting that lucky shot instead of talking about how dumb we played in the 2nd half. That was the worst loss I can remember since the Utah game 2-3 years ago.

Exactly. The Hawks last 2 losses were basically because they couldn't hit free throws in the 2nd half. Even if the Hawks managed to win by 4 or 5 by hitting their free throws...that still doesn't explain the awful rebounding and tons of open looks we gave up. This has to be the dumbest 21-11 team in NBA history.

So we lost one game on the road, when we didnt have our best stuff. It happens yall. We did choke the game away though and that is to be expected with a young and inexperienced team like the Hawks. Bibby didnt play like a leader or the point guard weve come to expect. I dont expect the team to recover very well from this lost. Its to bad that the next game is against the Magic. If we can take 2 out of the next 3 I will be convinced that we are for real. Once again Josh Smith fumbled the ball and turned it over like a (Please Use More Appropriate Word). It really is starting to get it old with that stuff. We also didnt look inside to Horford at all. Oh well!
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Is anyone else getting sick of this excuse (after four fricking years)?

As for the game though, Josh should be more aware of the shot clock and put more pressure on Vince on the last shot.

and next game is vs Houston

The last play was actually one of the only things the Hawks did right in the 2nd half. If I was up 1 I would gladly let the other team take a three pointer-especially one that's from 4-5 feet behind the line. That was an extremely low percentage(and lucky)shot. The problem is that we allowed the Nets to get back in the game after being up 20....then missed almost all of our big free throws when we had a chance to tie(Bibby)or extend the lead(Horford,Smith, and especially Zaza who missed 4 in a row). The free throws,3 point defense, defensive rebounding, turnovers(Smith),offensive sets, were all awful in the 2nd half. You basically have to play as dumb as you possibly can to blow a 20 point lead and that's what the Hawks did.

It is getting old I will admit. Joe should be our leader at this point and I think he is, but hes not vocal like a Kevin Garnett, hes more like an Eli Manning type leader just the quiet type. Weve come along way though, and they will contiune to mature no doubt. One lost on the road shouldnt discourage everyone.

we are not young and inexperienced, that excuse went out the window a long time ago. Woody runs 5 guys into the ground and mixes in 2-3 more, they're plenty experienced and dead tired too.

What a horrible second half. I thought this game was different and it was different indeed... a different twist with the same result.
