Jan 19: Toronto @ Atlanta

Post#1 » by JoshB914 » Mon Jan 19, 2009 5:10 pm

What's happened to the game threads recently?

We really need to get our confidence back at home today after the Sixers loss. The Raps can't defend anyone so hopefully Joe and Bibby can get back on track.

It's time to start worrying. I don't understand where our energy has gone since the New Year.

I think it's pretty clear now that the Hawks rely on Marvin and Horford for defensive stability.

Flip's contributions were important in this game.

JJ proves on NBA League Pass night that he is as clutch as it gets (well except one missed FT) and definitly more cluth than Bosh

I think it's just the fact that our backups are bad defenders, plus the fact that Solo and Zaza got into early foul trouble which further limited us. Even considering that, we held them to 84 points.

Without Calderon the Raptors are an awfully limited offensive team. But without Horford thats a nice job regardless.

BTW- anyone else starting to worry about Evans?

A much needed win for the Hawks. On a side not this place isn't jumping like it used to. Look like HS has become the main area of convo for the Hawks now.

Ugly game but we got the win. Seriously, I've lost the little respect I had left for Zaza. The guy gets blocked by J. Crawford and then A. Parker, I want to see him gone as bad as I want J. Smith. We've missed Horford tremendously cause the guy not only is our best big, but he brings that winning attitude every night. Nice shot by JJ to seal the game.
GO HAWKS.

Eh. HS has been pretty slow too.

Good win today. We won't get much rest this week, so this team will need to take advantage of some of the upcoming games, and be prepared with a limited amount of rest to play some big games.

I don't plan on making anymore due to the limited replies the ones I made had recently. The overall traffic on this board has been very slow. If this board is going to be a place to talk about Hawks basketball everyone will need to contribute. At times it feels as if only a few of us actually create topics.

We got more traffic around here when things were going bad. Now that the team has been playing well there is not much going on. Figure it would be the other way around. As for HS while the overall traffic isn't great. The chatroom over there is usually going strong each game.

Winning against the Raptors got the Celtics back on track, maybe it can do the same for us.

Hawks- how do you figure that the team is playing well? They have won 3 games out of their last 9. One of those was Houston without McGrady or Artest. One was the Clippers without Baron and Randolph. One was the Raptors without Calderon and JO. I think people know that the Hawks aren't playing very good basketball right now so there is no excitement at all about them. And when people aren't excited about the team then this place tends to be a ghost town.

Ya know, killjoy, you were invisible almost the entire time we were on a winning streak. Except for maybe popping your head in to say that such-and-such ATL player wasn't good enough for a particular trade, you seem to have no reason to post when we win.

Just sayin'

Glad we gutted out that win yesterday, but we are truly playing like garbage. No energy until we fall in a deep hole, no passion, no intensity. It's bizarre. I don't understand how a young team that's finally tasting success plays with such a lack of hunger. We haven't looked this bad since before the Bibby trade last year. Like someone said above, I hope this is just the injuries and the grind of the ridiculously long NBA regular season. I hope we have the fortitude to respond to this adversity and show some b*lls (a la the Boston Celtics).

This team is an emotional roller coaster. They have been like this since the rebuilding started. I will not be able to take them seriously as title contenders until they learn to put the bad teams away the way Cavs and Celtics do. It is great they get up for the big games. They need to treat every game the same. I understand it cannot happen every single game. The ups and downs of this team is something else.
