Mike Bibby's A Keeper

League sources say Atlanta has zero interest in trading Bibby, who is in the final year of his contract. While the Hawks are hoping to build on last season's strong first-round playoff performance against Boston, general manager Rick Sund is using this year to evaluate talent and determine which players are in the team's long-term future. Factor in a pending court battle over co-owner Steve Belkin's 30 percent stake in the team and the fact that the Atlanta Spirit Group (which owns both the Hawks and the Atlanta Thrashers) reportedly lost more than $50 million in the last two years, and it's highly unlikely Atlanta will be buyers.

Good. Unless we could package him for Amare or Bosh, I want him here. I love me some Mike Bibby. Did you see him try to take those free throws for Josh Smith last night?!?!

How can you call me (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and say you won't trade Bibby unless it's for Amare or Bosh? You're such an intelligent guy.

There isnt to many players id trade bibby for...Amare is not really on that list ( I think he'd be an average player with out an all-star facilitator. Bosh is on the list, Mike Conley and Tyson Chander are the other players I would pursue.

Trading a guard for a big rarely happens if ever. But what if Marvin got us Bosh or Chandler would we be a better team?

I would imagine he said that because those are the only two allstar players who have any chance of being traded before they hit free agency.

I think we'd have a shot at packaging Bibby and Marvin for any one of those guys. Huge expiring contract and a young player with potential are the usual ingredients you need to trade for a good big man. The salaries would roughly match up. I think it would make us better next year, not this year. We're not competing for a championship this year, so I'm all for anything that gives us a better shot at competing in the future.

I'd take Chandler at C over Horford any day and Conley looks to have improved since he got his starting spot back. What's funny is the supposedly reason we didn't pick him was because he couldn't shoot a lick, yet he's shooting like 40% from 3 this year and wasn't that bad there last year either.
