Does anyone disagree with the ranking of Marvin in the SF listing from 10/2008?

Man, who does Marvin rank ahead of here? He might have climbed a few points, but how much does a ranking like this do to a player's value?

They even have Smoove at #3.

it's just a fantasy list...it has little to do with actual value IMO. i'd take marvin over dunleavy any day.

I would put Marvin ahead of Dunleavy and Salmons. Salmons is having a good year this year but if your looking at his entire body of work I don't see that he's better than Marvin. On top of that he's playing on a bad team where he is pretty much a 2nd option (if K-Mart is healthy).

Man I wish we could have Caron.

I still say that Marvin is highly likely to take the 1 year 7.3 million dollar QO so he can hit unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2010 when so many teams are clearing space.

I am not sure, but I would say 50/50. IMO, we should offer him a flat contract, it would increase the difference between this Q.O. and a first year. If he gets a classic contract at 10M/yr, he will start just at 1M more than the Q.O., but with a flat contract, he can get nearly 3M$ more.
I am sure a team will offer him 50M/5yrs, so if ASG want to keep him, they have to be ready to give him something like that, and if we don't add salary now, it would be better to have a flat contract when Joe will get his extension, then Horford.
Bibby can get a flat one too.

Pistons will give him a reasonable contract.

Kings are going to overpay him like the dickens. He's going to be our future SF. That's why we're getting so many expirings. Good luck contending with how much the kings are going to give them.

With the expirings the Kings have acquired they are still over the cap and don't have anything aside from the MLE to offer. More likely that Nocioni is the Kings SF of the future.

Honestly- the fact that the Kings didn't find a home for Mikki Moore strongly indicates to me that they have no interest in making a run at Marvin. This was the time to deal him and it would have cleared and additional 2 million in caproom without too much difficulty.

Marion a 4th best SF?

The guy is averaging 12 and 8.

If the economy wasn't in the toilet i would agree. As it stands now i think marvin and many others will be looking to take the sure thing this summer rather than waiting until 2010.

They certainly have the money, but I have a feeling their money will go toward the frontcourt. Marvin can play some PF, but not permanently.

They won't be over.
They waived Moore and his last year was not fully guaranteed, and it seems they also get a cap relief for Abdur-Rahim as medical retirement (for his 2008-09 and 2009-10 salaries).
If they don't keep Diogu, McCants and Simmons, they are at about 44M. Add the first round pick and they are at 49M max if they get the 1st pick.

But it won't be enough if the cap is set lower than this year.

Ya, I think that it's going to come down to kings and hawks. Sadly, for me at least, the kings probably won't be able to sign him or have the nuts to sign him if we don't dump Nocioni on someone. I would say that the kings will make noise, but nothing will actually happen unless we lost Nocioni.

Kings would do a sign and trade though, similar to what you guys did with Joe Johnson.

Kenny thomas, Donte Greene and Hou 1st round pick for Williams would probably be the offer. Thomas is expiring, which would allow you guys to extend Johnson no doubt. Greene has shown a lot when given time, and that pick could end up around 15-20. That's a lot for a FA, but I think the kings would do it.

I guess it really comes down to how badly ATL wants Williams, because they're in the better position.

So, your willing to give us two first round picks like we gave Phoenix? Deal!!

Again, the Kings currently do not have the cap space to sign Williams away from the Hawks nor do they have the need anymore.

I'm worried about Portland and that's about it.

As for the two picks MHFFL, you're correct. We would give you Donte Greene, a first last year, and Hou's 1st rounder. That's two firsts, and I'm glad you would do that.

We clearly don't accept the first round pick. I also don't think it's going to be as easy to move Andres Nocioni as your making it sound. Will see what happens.

I don't agree with you on Nocioni, but to each his own.

However, you are mistaken if you think that trading him for an expiring would help you land Marvin. The time to trade for expiring contracts has passed.
