Rebounding

It seems that we are ranked far lower in rebounding than in offensive and other defensive indicators. According to nba.com, we are at least in the middle of the pack for FG%, opponent's FG%, 3pt FG%, opponents' 3pt FG%, turnover difference, and foul difference, but we are 24th in the league in rebounding difference. We are out rebounded by an average of 2.46 rebounds a game. I wondered how this could happen with Horford, Zaza, and Marv being relatively good rebounders for thier positions. I realize that Hortford has played through some injuries, and his average of 8.8 a game should go up (especially with games like last nights'). But is it really that simple though? Will that fix our most critical shortcoming, or do we need to address this need with an off season move?

^^^ We wont change this with a simple offseason move. All we need to do is teach our team to box out (like 6 yr olds) we need to go over the fundamentals of basketball with them.

It's very easy to explain our rebounding problems. Other than Horford who spent 4 years in college learning from a great program, our PF is a high schooler who loves the perimeter and our SF spent a year in college where his big body made him overlook any kind of fundamentals you need to have in order to rebound. Result: We suck at it.

You would try to pin it all on Smith. We got killed on the boards in the games Smith missed too. Against Denver (Smith was out) every Denver player got an offensive rebound and Birdman got 7 offensive rebounds in 21 minutes even though they shot 50% from the field. Is Smith supposed to box guys out when he isn't playing?
The team as a whole doesn't box out.

It goes beyond boxing out. We have ONE player on the roster that is a good rebounder, and he's playing out of position. We're going to struggle mightily in this unless one of two things happen:
1. We trade Josh for a true center
2. Josh starts emulating Horford and undergoes a huge attitude change (or brain surgery) and starts playing on the interior and rebounding like his immense physical tools indicate he can

We have no big men who can come in and grab rebounds. Zaza can't do it since all he can do is look confused, and that is the only guy who Woody plays.

Horford ranks 26th among centers in rebounding ratio. Zaza is 16th.
Smith obviously needs to rebound better but this is still a weak rebounding team without Smith.
