3/9 Hornets @ Hawks

Post#1 » by ATL DirtyBird » Sun Mar 8, 2009 8:06 pm

I thought we should start this thread up early bc off the importance of this game. We need to show we can beat good teams on our home court. Hopefully Josh brings the same intensity and energy he brought last game and contiunues to improve. Joe needs to break out of his horrendous shooting and so does Mike. Marvin needs to bounce back from a poor game and have a great one tomorrow, and needs to make is 3 pts consistently. Al just needs to keep playing like hes been playing. GO HAWKS!
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Remember Tyson Chandler is back for New Orleans and he's been putting up some very good rebounding numbers since his return. David West has had a double-double during the last six games.

Hornets favored to win by 1.5 points. O/U 189

Hornets favored in our house? That's just wrong. I'm taking the Hawks and the over.

There a better team than what we saw earlier in the year and we should win this game and prob will. Bibby needs to focus on defense against Chris and Al needs to prevent the alley oop fest. Should be a good game and I think well pull it out, but at this point its wrong to expect us to win any game these days

Yay! The annual Billy Knight is the devil incarnate game is upon us again. I'm gonna place the over/under on the amount of times I throw the remote at the television at 6.5.

Damn, I just realized that we have the BK Blunder week. After Chris Paul tonight, Wednesday we get Deron Williams in. I wanted him over Chris Paul because I failed to fully appreciate how he would blossom under the new hand check rules, but either one would have been our franchise PG for more than a decade if picked. Furthermore, Paul Millsap is in that game. When BK drafted Shelden Williams I argued before hand (we knew the pick a month in advance) that you could get a better PF in the 2nd round. Craig Smith, Leon Powe, and Paul Millsap all went in the 2nd round that year and have been way better pros. Alexander Johnson went in the mid-2nd round as well and in spite of now playing in Germany he had an NBA career on the level of Shelden Williams impact as the #5 pick. To compound things, BK took Solomon Jones ahead of those guys as well. It'll be a long time before the scars of BK fade.

That's going to be an interesting game. You can call me crazy, but I'd still pick Williams over Paul. I just feel like Paul has/needs the ball is his hands way too much, even though he's great at making decisions. It's intriguing how much trouble the Hornets have scoring the ball though. Anyway, I have a good feeling about this game, I think i always do though...lol

The Hornets having trouble scoring(which isn't true btw) the ball isn't because of Paul. The Cavs had trouble scoring the ball last year and that certainly wasn't because of Lebron. Ditto for Wade and his team this year. I could see if it was Iverson who turned the ball over like crazy and shot under 40 percent from the field in his prime.....but Paul could have the ball in his hands as much as he wants because he's efficient as hell.

Dude - Chris Paul is one of the top 5 players in the game (maybe top 3) and will probably go down as the best point of his generation. Williams is great - but Chris Paul is in another stratosphere.

And how the hell are we only 1.5 point underdogs in this game???

^^^ Vegas always knows more than us. When I saw we were just 1.5 dogs I was very encouraged.

I'm off to the game, hopefully we can come up with a nice victory tonight.

That's actually a pretty logical point spread. The Hawks biggest home losses have come against crap teams when they didn't show up. The Hawks actually got outscored by more in 48 minutes in two separate losses to the Nets and Clippers than they have in 4 games vs Boston/Orlando/Phoenix/Cleveland. I don't think they will win but the game should be competitive as long as the Hawks play with the same effort that they did vs. Detroit.

Question from an NBA fan?

Watching the game tonight Hornets at Hawks...whatever happened to your Hawk fans? The arena is empty and you guys have a nice young team.

btw: Go Hawks and beat the Hornets

Its going to be a long night without Marvin and honestly I dont think it would matter if he was playing tonight.

No one shows up at Hawks games until the 2nd quarter. We're as bad of a sports town as L.A. and Miami.

Josh Smith should be fined $1,000 for every jump shot he takes for the rest of his career.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
