3/11 Jazz @ Hawks

Once again lets start the thread up early due to the importance of this game, especially with Marvin out I would love to see once again us beat a contender. The Heat are playing Boston so hopefully we can gain another game on them for some more cushion. Obviously Josh needs to play with the same energy and Joe needs to assert himself the same way he did last game, and Acie needs to contribute quality minutes again. I think we will win the game. Reminder: The Jazz are coming off a game against Indiana, so hopefully theyll be a little tired.
GO HAWKS!

I expect Matt Harpring to bring a weapon to the game to hit Josh Smith with.

Don't worry here is Matt's future job after Josh gets done with him.

Josh Smith couldn't beat up Matt Harpring because Harpring used to play football.
End of argument.

lol... Harping is as tough as they get. I always liked his game and how he uses his body. Boozer is already having injury issues once again ? I like our chances for this game. Now, every time i watch the Jazz and D. Williams, I get impressed by the way J. Sloan has coached this guy. He's made D. Williams a great PG. Had the Hawks drafted him, Woodson would be posting him up all game long killing all the skills he's got. It should be a fun game and we need every win now that Marvin seems to be out for a while. Let's go Hawks!

Strange coincidence, Matt Harpring actually lives in Atlanta during his offseason. Most of you probably remember him from his Georgia Tech days.

He used to play quarterback at one of our rival high schools. I played against him. He's a big guy, but he never actually hit anyone. He was a great quarterback, by the way. Dude is tough, but the fact that he played high school quarterback doesn't mean he would win a fight, Dr. Watson. He's also a complete d-bag, everyone who knew the dude hated him. Josh is kind of a d-bag too, so I kind of hope they go at it and fight to the death, Thunderdome style.

Harpring did go to Tech though.

As good as Utah has been lately, they're still a garbage road team and we're still a solid home team. Definitely winnable, although they are very talented and well-coached.
Will have to watch this on TV instead of from the luxury of dallas' amaaaaazing seat (thanks again evil!!!).

Keeping an eye on the competition a bit:
The Heat host the Celtics tonight, but 5 Celtics are out. Miami favored by 3.5
The Pistons host the Knicks, but Allen Iverson is out. Detroit favored by 6.5
The Sixers host the Raptors, but the Raptors have become irrelevant quickly. Philadelphia favored by 6.5
We've got to topple the hot team or risk losing some ground in our fight to hold home court in round 1.
Seriously on the Raptors, what happened? I mean when the Ford trade was made with Indiana I thought that Indiana won the trade, but I never expected the Raptors would just fall apart like they did. Now they are the most likely to lose a big free agent in 2010 if they don't trade Bosh first. Sad.

Dallas, it's going to be interesting to see how Stephon Marbury does at starting tonight. With Rajon Rondo out he has some big shoes to fill.
Rasheed Wallace is going to be out again tonight and Friday for Detroit.

Utah sucks on b2b on the road. Could be a trap game for them today.

I don't think Stephon gets the start tonight; Doc stated last time he questioned himself about his first start.
I see House getting the call and then Stephon can play enough minutes to see how his game is at this time.
All I have been hearing lately is how good Utah is and now they have their lineup in place, they are a major title threat. I just don't see it. If they can't win on the road, they aren't going anywhere.
But this will be a good game tonight if Josh can keep his focus on the opponent. It shouldn't be a problem after their last encounter.

What's this about Lane Kiffin?
Utah will be a tough team even though they're bad on the road, just like us. I definitely see them as a contender with two very good PFs and a dominant PG. I just hope Okur doesn't go off, seems like he always hits big threes at terrible times.

Stephon didn't excel with Rondo out the other day, but he's had a couple days to prepare for starting tonight. Rasheed missing could hurt Detroit, but they managed to pull it out against Orlando with him missing most of the game. It'll be interesting to see how the various injuries impact the race, us included.

Lane Kiffin told a recruit that he was battling South Carolina for that if the kid went to South Carolina he'd wind up pumping gas like the rest of the players who went to South Carolina.
