The unraveling of the Suns could benefit the Knicks. Suns owner Robert Sarver, during the Cavaliers-Suns national telecast Thursday night, admitted he could break up the team in the offseason.
There's speculation the Suns, expected to miss the playoffs, could use an early termination clause to release point guard Steve Nash this summer and save $7 million on his 2009-2010 wage. Nash would have to play for the $5.9 million mid-level exception but wants to come to New York.

I think he would be more likely to go to a team like Houston or LA. I can't see a 35 year old Nash having much interest playing for a non contender if he's only making the MLE.

Portland is the first team to come to mind. an above average team that is searching for an elite PG.
Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, and New York could also work for Nash
Miami loves to do crazy trades, as seen with Shaq, Marion, and Jermaine
Orlando has been looking for an upgrade over Nelson for a long time
Hawks are now considered to be an above average team, and as long as the price is not too high, Nash could be a slight upgrade over Bibby
and of course, the obvious reason for New York

Portland also makes alot of sense. I can't see Orlando using any money to sign Nash with Nelson/Alston on the cap and Turk being an unrestricted FA.

I'd love to see if we could get Stoudemire from them. He still has the talent to dominate. JJ and Stoudemire could contend in the east.

Houston is a slow paced, defensive team. Horrible fit for Nash.
