3/17 Kings @ Hawks

Post#1 » by ATL DirtyBird » Mon Mar 16, 2009 6:48 pm

Riding the wave of a 5 game win streak, and Joes absolutely cookin right now and I expect it to continue against the worst team in the NBA. Nothing much to say here, considering we could play garbage basketball and still blow this teams doors off. Hopefully we can put this team away early, but I asked for that against the Pacers and it took 3 quarters for that to happen. It wouldnt be at all surprising if we found a way to lose this game cuz thats the Hawks specialty.

Go HAWKS! :D :D :D

We usually play down to the competition, so this might be close for a while. I just looked at that roster - and the Kings are TERRIBLE. Add to that to our non-existent home crowd on weeknights, and I bet this one is close until the 4th quarter.

As long as sneakerking makes the game threads I'm confident. It's pretty clear that he is the key to our resurgence.

Haha. true. our crowd SUCKS during the regular season, even on weekends and for any big game besides the celtics. But we bring it big time in the postseason. Weird.

LOL we seriously better not have a letdown after beating Detroit, New Orleans, Utah, and the Blazers the past 4 games.

The Hawks winning this would put alot of pressure on Miami. We'd be 3 games up on them going into their game at Boston. We also hold both tie breakers as of now.

The Hawks cannot afford to have any letdowns against terrible teams. Especially at home.

Hopefully tonight they change their usual ways and jump on a team they're vastly superior to early and never let up.

good teams respect both good teams and bad teams.... Hawks need to start showing some maturity and have some respect for the Kings

this is an important game because the Hawks have more to lose than they have to gain. a win won't really shake up the playoff race or make any statements around the NBA, but a lose to a team that is not in a playoff race would be a big moral let down for the whole team.

good teams blow out bad teams. Hawks need to get a big lead and keep it, to get Joe some much needed rest, and get Acie and Solomon some reps.

The current line is Atlanta by 12 with an o/u of 202. I would stay away from either side of the 12 and I'll take the over, but I'm not that confident on it either.

Atlanta's home losses this season:
11/15 New Jersey 107-119
12/17 Boston 85-88
1/7 Orlando 102-106
1/11 Philadelphia 94-109
1/25 Phoenix 99-104
2/7 Clippers 97-121
3/1 Cleveland 87-88

I would feel a lot better about tonight's game if it wasn't for that Clippers game in the history. It demonstrates how the team can let its guard down. For the most part they've been very good at protecting the home floor.

^^^^^^all the games again good teams we were in it most of the game if not winning. We can never blow out a bad team, it doesn't make sense, sadly I'll be at this game! Hopefully there done for in the 2nd quarter

I hope not either, but as long as they pull away at the end would be ok with me, like the Indy game. Ford kept scoring but it was too little too late at that point.

I know were not the cavs, magic, or celtics but they blow out bad teams and do it early. We give those teams good games and I don't see why we can't blow out these kings. We should just sit joe and start mario, and let the all star get some rest, especially for this Rough stretch coming up where we play some great teams, the only game we can win in my opinion is Dallas and that won't be an easy game and mavs aren't any better than the jazz, hornets or blazers so we should take care of business there.

I think, for a lot of reasons, our best strategy is just to try and punish them inside. For one, even when a wing is being covered by a bad defender, sometimes the shots just don't fall. For two, the weak and underdeveloped Kings front court will need help trying to contain Smith, Horford, and Pachulia which should create a lot of space for Joe, Bibby, Mo, and Flip to move around on the perimeter. It will also keep Joe fresh for the road games after the homestand ends and it will probably also result in Josh/Al/Zaza being more engaged on the glass which will really help us put them away.

I'm hoping with the way they have been playing recently that their heads are in the right place.

I think we're still far away from being that kind of team that can put a team away whenever we want, but talent wise we're much better than the Kings. If we had a bigger, louder crowd, that'd help a little bit too. Anyway, the way it works in the NBA is, a win over the Kings counts just as much as a win over the Celtics at the end. I do not believe in moral wins for a second. You're only as good as your record tells you are, and we know that consistency and Hawks are words that we rarely can put together in the same sentence. So, while I do not expect a blow out, I think we will be just fine.
GO HAWKS.

kings win 110-100 if Hawes shows why he should have been picked #3, otherwise hawks win by 20

125-97 Hawks if Smith shows why he should have been picked #2.

Hawes seems to have been picked around where he should have been.
