Just wondering what Hawks fans would think of a deal centered around those two, what type of pieces would make it work etc..

Chandler / ZaZa
Horford / ??
Marv / Evans
JJ / Flip
Bibby? / Law

Changes the complexion of your team and Chandlers alot better locker room guy than Smoove.

if Tyson didn't have any major health concerns..... then yes, it is a fair trade

but as of now, with Tyson's health problems, i would have to decline.

i dont know why so many hawks fans are willing to ship smith away for garbage in return.

hwo would trading smith for chandler benefit the hawks in any way?

This whole board bags on Zaza non-stop. Yet Zaza averages more boards per 48 minutes than Chandler. Chandler isnt even an upgrade over Zaza offensively.

and you would be trading away the hawks best defender, so it cancels out any gain on the defensive side that chandler would bring over the hawks backup center Zaza.

NO. Horford and Smoove are becoming the best frontcourt duo in the league; at 23 years old.

I'd only make minor moves to the team. Bibby being the only starter that I'd be willing to let go. I'd keep him too, if the price is right.

Move Mo and Speedy and look for a Wilcox type guy to complete our frontcourt rotation.

of course Zaza is grabbing more rebounds..... Tyson is having a bad year due to injury.

but still, Tyson WAS a very good player last year, averaging almost 12/12, shooting .623, and containing Duncan with out help from the double team.

trust me, i'm a huge Smoove fan, and saying that Tyson's 2006-08 impact is the same to Smoove's impact is not showing any disrespect to Josh.......... but i'm too worried that Chandler is now damaged goods, and i wouldn't give up Smith for him.

Still not sure why people are willing to trade Josh... Sure Chandler's 2006-2008 impact overall might have been the same, but its hard to tell when he's been getting most of his offense from alley-oops from Chris Paul. Defensively he's taller, so he would eliminated our frontcourt size issues... but I think it would cost our offense. That's before considering the injury stuff. So if he were healthy I would consider it for awhile and finally say no, but with the health concerns its an easy no.

1. Even if he is injured, he is playing as well as Zaza and that says alot.

2. I dont even know why your bringing up offensive stats and mentioning tyson chandler. he has no offensive game whatsoever. Take away cp3 spoonfeeding him baskets and he is back to the scrub in Chicago averaging 5 points or 6 points a game on significantly lower shooting pct.

3. The east has one good offensive center in Dwight howard. So why would the hawks need to trade for a good man defender at C? Worried about Barnagni going off on them?(he is 2nd in the east for C in ppg)

Josh Smith and his shot blocking are more important to the hawks than a good man defender at the C position.

ahhhhhhhhhh.... so?

in 2006-2008 Tyson Chandler was the NBA's best offensive rebounder (by a wide margin), CP3 did throw up a lot of lobs for TC (a luxury that Joe could also have) , but TC also got alot of his points on his own hussle.

but you are really missing the point. two REALLY REALLY BIG points.

TC would allow Horford to move to PF and thus could increase Horford's offensive production, thus increasing the team's offensive production as a whole.

but the biggest point that i'm really surpised that you don't get is that Chandler allows you to defend against the beasts in the east, Dwight, KG, and Lebron. TC allows you to put single coverage against Dwight, and KG (something that is extremely rare), and Lebron has a hard time against long, defensive centers like Duncan and Chandler.

Josh is such a gifted player that i couldn't let him go, but TC would not be a bad compensation, espeically in building a traditional championship team.

Dwight Howard vs the Hornets last season
2 games
20 pts 15 rebounds

Dwight Howard vs the Hawks last season
4 games
15 points and 16 rebounds.

sounds like a real sweet upgrade.

NO. WAY.

David West has to be a part of any deal for Smoove.

last season the Magic shot .357 from threes when facing the Hornets. While the Magic shot .428 from threes when facing the Hawks

.................... do you even understand basic "double team" concepts?

BTW, in game one against the Hornets, Chandler only played 15min and Dwight got 24pts. in game two against the Hornets, Chandler played 32min and Dwight got 17pts.   ......... nice try though

Game to game shooting %s from 3 are one of the most fluky stats in bball.

A) HOW does it increase Al's production? He didn't produce more as a PF earlier this season and B) would Al's "increased" offensive production make up for the decrease in offensive production between Chandler and Smith? Considering that about a third of Chandler's offense comes from alley-oops from the best PnR pg in the league (not to mention other dunks and layups off PnRs), I seriously seriously seriously doubt it.

but the biggest point that i'm really surpised that you don't get is that Chandler allows you to defend against the beasts in the east, Dwight, KG, and Lebron. On the other hand, Josh is one of the most versatile defenders in the league and allows a PF switch onto literally anyone.

Josh is such a gifted player that i couldn't let him go, but TC would not be a bad compensation, espeically in building a traditional championship team.

A traditional chip team is built around an elite C, not a middling one.

IF New Orleans tries to deal Chandler again (who's overpaid for his production, but is a C), it will be to shed payroll not to exchange payroll for another player with about the same price tag. Further more, Smith would be in a logjam behind David West or become the smallest C in that conference.

Even expiring contracts aren't as important to New Orleans as they were last year because Chandler has 2 years left, so they'd only be saving money the year after. The likely trade for New Orleans would be the give away of Chandler for a pick to a team with cap space that can absorb him. There were only about 4-5 teams with that kind of cap room this summer. Whether they want to spend it on him is a big question. His offense is totally dependent on his PG and his production per minute this year is the worst since his rookie season. Kind of expect better rebounding numbers and blocks out of him for that price tag.

I've got no issues with Chandler, but his statistics are greatly inflated with CP3 giving him dunks all night long. Chandler for Smith is a complete joke of a trade.

No. Josh has tons more upside than Chandler and has completely turned it around since Woodson pimp-slapped him a while back. The only Hawks fan who would welcome that trade is Skyhawk, and I suspect that's because Josh killed his dog or punched his sister or something.
