Jarrett Jack and TJ Ford have to be separated. Evidently the argument started on court continued into the timeout and resulted in Jack being given the rest of the night off. Don't know the details of it, but it is at least interesting given the Indy financial situation and Jack's RFA status this off season. He's often been mentioned as a possible acquisition (for years). Does this situation lessen that in your eyes?

nope..... his skills set still make him an ideal backcourt teammate for Joe.

Nice way to respond. Jack 13-14 from the field for 31 points.

Indiana most likely doesn't accept the team option for Marquis Daniels, so that will free up some money, and Radoslav Nesterovic comes off the books. Jarrett Jack is producing some very solid numbers under the system, he's starting, and I seriously doubt he leaves.

I wonder if Larry Bird would be willing to move the upcoming lottery pick depending on what position if someone was willing to take Jamaal Tinsley off his hands?

Daniels is team option (if the player has the option the team can't say no) and I agree they don't pick it up. The thing is with their draft pick likely being around 2M in salary, the team salary is at 64M without resigning Jack. It all depends on what type of salary Jack is offered, but I doubt the ownership goes back into luxury tax territory. I'm sure they'll try to shed salary before letting him go, but there isn't much of a market for Tinsley.

I fixed it. I was thinking about writing about T.J. and was thinking about him when I put player option.

I'm a fan of Jarrett Jack, but I agree with above, no way the Pacers should let him walk, to me, he is a top 3 player on that team.

Dime weighs in on the disagreement

A simple case of frustration boiling over from one ball-hog to another? Maybe. But I think Jack might have ulterior motives.

Look at T.J.’s history in these situations: In Milwaukee he battled Mo Williams for minutes, eventually getting traded before Mo was re-signed to a huge contract. In Toronto he fought with Jose Calderon for the starting spot … eventually getting traded before Jose was re-signed to a huge contract. Now it’s happening again in Indiana, and guess who’s coming up for free agency this summer? The same guy who could be trying to force Pacers’ management to trade somebody.

O’Brien seems to have already made his choice. The night after Jack instigated the timeout incident and had his own little Kyle-Lee Watson moment (I can just see him smashing a folding chair against a locker after getting the boot), he was in the starting lineup, dropping 31 points on the Bobcats in 32 minutes, while Ford came off the bench and only took four shots in 21 minutes.

“We had lost five in a row,” O’Brien told the Indianapolis Star. “T.J. and I both talked, and he’s not playing at the top of his game. I decided to shake things up to see if we can get a jolt.”
