3/25 Los Spurs @ Hawks

Post#1 » by ATL DirtyBird » Wed Mar 25, 2009 12:29 am

Well after getting rocked by Cleveland, we came back home and handled business against a horrific Minnesota team. It seems that we can beat anyone at home, so the Spurs we should be able to beat especially with Ginobili out and most likely Duncan out also, there also coming off a back to back, so theyll be flying all the way from Golden State to ATL. Hopefully the Spurs are drained but there a veteran team. TP will prob give Bibby fits. I think we take the W here in the end, but as long as we dont ever win a few a games against a few good teams these games dont prove anything.

Lets go Hawks!!! :D :D :D :D :D
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Atlanta favored by 6.5 with an o/u of 179. I'm taking the Hawks and the over.

And the Spurs were at home last night, so the flight was from San Antonio. Still a rough flight, but not the same as tripping out of SFO.

i wouldn't count anything against the spurs. they could prob find a way to get 20 out of adam morrison and beat us. hopefully we don't come out flat which is what usually kills us against the better competition in the NBA.

Do they have Adam Morrison? Thought he was the end of the Lakers bench.

I do agree that they need to be respected regardless of which players sit for the game. Roger Mason is having a breakout year and George Hill has the potential to explode. Furthermore, if you look at series history we've been torched by a variety of players not just one specific star. It's like they alternate who has a big game against us.

Adam's on LA. Also some Laker fans seem to believe they can move his contract this off season and get some value for him. His salary of 5-6 million will be difficult to move.

Two things tonight:

1. Contain Finley and Mason tonight.

2. Coach Woodson needs to be on his game with Gregg Popovich on the other bench.

At this point in terms of trade value: Adam Morrison = Speedy Claxton. All they are expiring 5.3M contracts. I would argue Speedy might be more valuable if his contract is covered 80% by insurance. I can't imagine a GM thinking they get anything remotely like 5M in output from Ammo.

Of course the last time I saw Ammo he was in Charlotte being lit up by Marvin so badly that the Bobcats decided that they were better off with Cartier Martin on the floor instead. Ammo was traded the next day. As long as the Lakers are trying to win they can't afford to give him more than a few minutes on the floor to showcase the things he can do to rebuild trade value.

the sad thing was...

they were better with cartier martin on the court.

i was rooting for the hawks to get martin in foul trouble so that morrison had to come back into the game, sure enough he did and we coasted to victory on morrison's back. (morrison was traded the next day.)

I was doing the same thing. I remember thinking that as long as Morrison's in we would breeze to the win.

The Hawks have to stop switching on pick and rolls. Parker is going to score everytime if he's going 1 on 1 vs. some one 6-7 inches taller than him. Even Nique is pointing that out.

No one in the 4th has scored besides Joe.

The Hawks need to throw out w/e their strategy is against point guards like Parker,Ford and Devin Harris. San Antonio is milking the same play over again and again and we still haven't found a way to stop it.

Horford and Smith picked great times to have their worst offensive games in a while. Those two should have stepped up with Duncan out.

Drew Gooden and Matt Bonner started at the 4/5. How can Horford and Smith get shut down by that abortion of a front line?
