Chris Anderson, Brandon Bass, Von Wafer and Matt Barnes are some free agents that are on the market this off season. I think they would be solid coming off the bench assuming we cannot resign Zaza and Flip. What do you guys think of them? Personally I would love to resign Bibby, Marvin, Flip and Zaza and add one of those names above. I don't know if that's possible.

It's possible; I don't think any of those names would get the full MLE. A couple of other names that I wouldn't mind seeing in a Hawks uniform: Anderson Varejao and Glen "Big Baby" Davis...

Newbie here but long time Hawk follower, hassle me all you want over this but do any of you think that Rasheed Wallace is an option here considering this team lacks veteran leadership? To me it seems perfect considering 1)his connection to woody 2) due to his age he can come relatively cheap and considering the upheaval in Detroit an up and coming team like the hawks looks attractive 3)he gives the hawks a defensive big man who can also contribute greatly on the offensive end 4) and what I feel is most important, he can become a mentor and coach to smoove and al considering they are both players with similar skillsets to him. Thoughts?

With our current cap situation (including cap holds), we really only have the MLE to offer without renouncing almost all the players who will be RFAs (Marvin, Chills) or UFAs (Bibby, Zaza, Flip). IF Rasheed would come over on the MLE, then sure, I'd do it - the Ts and all. If not, then I'd have to know what we'd give up 1st...

I understand how difficult it will be to sign Sheed, but he would an ideal vet to bring in and compliment what we have going. Adding someone like that and perhaps keeping Bibby would do a lot to keep JJ here and continuing our current success. Ideally, I'd love to keep Marvin, Bibby, Flip and Zaza as well as get Sheed. I love the flexibility that Sund will have to recondition the team. This will a true test for him to take this challenge and take this team to the next level.

I see three crucial elements that have to be addressed. First is the PG position. We cannot be as good as we have been without what Bibby and Flip have provided. If we don't keep Bibby, then we have to find a solid replacement. Flip has been a luxury, but one I would spend the money on again for sure. Second, we have to resign Marvin or get something substantial for him. Not only is he a young upcoming player, but he's a great fit for this team. Last, we have to have solid C to backup/play along side Horford. Zaza isn't the ultimate option, but he has been very good for this team. (This is where I'd love to see Sheed.) Overall, I realize that we could use any of these options to trade or make room for other players. For instance, we could let Bibby go and get another PG in a S&T for Flip or Marvin. It will be interesting to see what Sund does.

I would love love love to have Chris Anderson. I'd then package Josh Smith with another good player to secure another star to compliment Joe. Anderson isn't unttainable either. He only plays 20 minutes a game for Denver and doesn't start. We could offer him a starting role with the promise of trading Smoove.

Looking at Anderson, he plays 20 minutes a game. If he started for us, and played 35 minutes, that is 175% increase in minutes and thus stats. We could expect the following:

Rebounds: 10.85 (10 when we control for fatigue and perhaps a couple of less minutes per game)
Blocks: 4.4 (Rounded down to 4 in similar fashion)
Points: 11.55 (Rounded way down to 9 just to be conservative).

10 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 9 points a game, plus the freedom to package Smith with another player to bring in a star to compliment Joe if possible: Where do I sign?

I'm perfectly fine with adding Chris Anderson to come off our bench, but I don't like the idea of him starting, and he can receive a consistent amount of minutes as a role player. I also like him because he's unique, not just because of all the tattoos, but he's a proven fan favorite.

While I'm open to moving Josh, I feel it needs to be almost the perfect trade, because we need to take into account a few things. A. Does it hurt the chemistry of the team? B. The fans reaction? (Considering he's extremely popular) C. Do we truly have a blueprint for the future?

Josh Smith will only improve and there needs to be a good plan set before moving him. I'm not sure if we're prepared for that.

I bet orlando is set on resigning Gortat. I know the fans in orlando love him. I don't see orlando letting him go. I would love to add a back up big man and small forward. Randolph Morris, Othello Hunter and Solo don't cut it. I think Brandon Bass would be a good back-up 4 and Matt Barnes would be a solid back-up 3.

So if the Hawks need a star to tandem with JJ. Why not trade Marvin(S&T)/Horford/filler for Amare/filler?

Suns are rebuilding and need to get younger. The Hawks could resign Bibby for the MLE, draft Sam Young with your pick and have a lineup of.

Bibby/JJ/Young/Smith/Amare

As bigs I would also add as options: Chris Wilcox (always liked him), Magloire and Drew Gooden. I agree that Chris Andersen would be the best fit, he blocks shots, has size and could anchor the paint. Don“t know if we even have any opportunity to sign one of them. Adding Gooden, Varejao or Andersen would be fantastic.

On the wings I would go after Rodney Carney, Barnes, Ariza, Damien Wilkins or Jarvis Hayes. Probably Ariza and Barnes are out of the discussion because of $ but I think we could sign Hayes or Carney to play backup SF. Another one I would consider is Walter Herrman, he can play SF and PF and could provide 20 quality minutes off the bench.

At PG I would give an opportunity to Marcus Williams, cheap prospect with high upside, win situation.,
