Hello, i have a question.

i am a huge fan off Josh Smith, and i know he has had some problem with woodsen in the past.
i know a trade is highly unlikely between both teams. But i would like to know if a:
Howard and Bass for Smith is considered a fair deal. and would Atl accept such a deal if proposed.

probably not. i think when Hawks fans think of a Smith trade, they are thinking of getting an Amare or Bosh or Biedrins in return.

yeah, its very much a case of a player being more valuable to one team than to another, but it's gona take alot to get smith.

At this point anything less than a dependable scoring big would not net you Josh Smith.

I like Brandon Bass, but I couldn't pull the trigger on this either. Smith would be a trade piece only to bring in a star. Working Dampier into this trade would perhaps make it more tempting, but even then, he takes up a good deal of cap space.

payne, you're probably thinking that Josh Smith would play SF for y'all. Disabuse yourself of that idea. Smoove is a PF (where Dirk plays). Playing him at SF takes away the best part of his defense, namely the blocked shots. And, offensively, believe me, you don't want to tempt him to shoot MORE from the perimeter. Plus, I see his body only getting thicker with age.

To me, his future is pretty much set in stone: either he becomes the left-handed version of Karl Malone or he busts.

I hate to bring up this conversation again, but IMO:

Defensively Josh Smith = PF
Offensively = SF

Ideally he would be paired with another forward who is just the opposite (PF offensively, SFdefensively) (and Marv could maybe be that guy if learned to post up).

If he has to play the same position at both ends of the floor though, parson is right, it has to be PF because his primary talent is shot blocking from that position.

Well, he WANTS to play offensively like a SF but I think that'd be a huge mistake ("A hugh mistake! I'm series!").
