What that locker room looks like going forward remains to be seen. With the June NBA draft and the start of the July free agency free-for-all still to come, it should be a while before things begin to take shape. Woodson is entering the final year of his contract, and only seven of 15 players are signed through next season.

A brief look back and peek ahead at the players on the Hawks’ roster:
Outlook of Hawks’ free agents

Realistic assessments. I've essentially written off Solomon Jones and Thomas Gardner as well. Othello and Mario seem likely to be kept around at minimums as they continue to develop. If Mario could develop a little bit of offensive he'd be a real contributor. As for Othello I'm hopeful he could be our Leon Powe or Carl Landry (I would settle for Chuck Hayes) type of player with some more development.

In my mind Marvin is a lock for 1 year at the QO because I don't see how a GM could take the leap of faith and invest more in him (or long term) given the nature and frequency of his injuries. He wasn't able to show off that he was truly recovered during the playoffs. This same thing that makes it unlikely that we get some other team trying to lure him away with a contract also means that he is unlikely to be coveted in a sign and trade.

I agree that the other 3 free agents all boil down to price tags. Due to the way the cap works we are unable to make major changes the roster without taking massive risks. As such I think we'll probably resign Zaza and Bibby (although Bibby does have some sign and trade potential). Flip is more difficult as his salary will take part of the MLE, which is the only way we really have to add a veteran upgrade. The problem with going another direction is that it would leave a void in the lineup of a scorer off the bench.

I'd like to see Mario get a multi-year deal this summer. If Woody would just give him some minutes from the outset and let him carve out a role for himself he could be a valuable asset off the bench.

I agree on Marvin at the QO. Sund will probably try to wait him out (as he tried with Smith and Childress last year), but this year fewer teams have the money, so I think Marvin will sign the QO and wait for 2010, when a lot of teams have cap space.

I think that Sekou dropped the ball by not even mentioning childress still being a RFA with a caphold and not talking about how the Hawks don't have any bird rights on Murray. This was the perfect opportunity to remind Hawks fans about CBA stuff that they may not be aware of.

I have been saying for a long time that I thought that Marvin would end up taking the QO so he could hit FA in 2010 when so many teams have caproom.

Murray will be interesting- he definitely found a role being a primary scorer with a second unit. I just can't get a feel for what kind of contract he will get this offseason

We MUST bring back The Zaza.
