the big question is, can Hasheem Thabeet become Tyson Chandler in his prime? or maybe even slightly better, maybe get a few DPOY?

Thabeet will never be on Dwight's level offensively, but will he be able to average 12rpg/3bpg for a few seasons? with Thabeet, could the Hawks do what the Magic do against Lebron and funnel him into the shot blocker.

should the Hawks consider a Horford for #2 overall pick?

Orlando beat Cleveland in game one because they were able to score. Cleveland(and Lebron in particular)scored more points in their game one loss than they did in any game against the Hawks. Our problem in the playoffs is that we scored 85 points or less in 6 of our 11 playoff games(10 of 18 if you count last year). It's pretty obvious that the Hawks need another go to guy in order to compete with the better teams in a half court game on a consistent basis.

As for the 2nd pick..I'd take Rubio over Thabeet.

i think Rubio will be a bust, but even if he does turn out to be the player that a lot of people thinks he will become, he is still not a good backcourt teammate for Joe.

even if he does become a good player, he is still a year or two away, and the Hawks will have a hard time making the playoffs next season with Rubio.

finally, if the Hawks take Rubio....... then that means Zaza will be resigned and become the starting center for the Hawks again.

Most great players that were drafted this decade didn't make the playoffs their first year.

I haven't' seen nearly enough to have a strong opinion on how good Rubio will be-but I do know that he has much more value than Thabeet right now. We aren't going to be getting either though. If Rubio(not Fegan) really feels that strongly about playing in Memphis..then he'll just pull his name out the 2009 draft all together.

I want absolutely no part of College 7 footers that played 3 years and didn't dominate. I think he is going to be a disastrous pick. I would strongly prefer Dejuan Blair

For one, we aren't getting either guy. For two, you do realize that Lebron dropped 49 points on 66% shooting in game 1, right? Last, and possibly most important, I'm not sold in Thabeet ever becoming a dominant rebounder in the NBA. There are certainly examples of guys' rebounding blowing up when they hit the show (David Lee) but for the most part, rebounding is fairly consistent.
