Al Horford for Devin Harris

Post#1 » by Harry10 » Sat May 23, 2009 2:00 pm

NJN gets: Ricky Rubio, Darko Milicic (1yr contract)
NJN gives: Devin Harris, Jarvis Hayes (1yr contract)

MEM gets: Al Horford, Speedy Claxton (1yr contract)
MEM gives: Ricky Rubio, Darko Milicic (1yr contract)

ATL gets: Devin Harris, Jarvis Hayes (1yr contract)
ATL gives: Al Horford, Speedy Claxton (1yr contract)

MEM wants Griffin, but can't get him, so Griz get another young quality PF.

NJN gives up a really good PG, but gets a good young PG on a rookie contract along with a big expirering contract. this will give the Nets even more room to get Lebron and Bosh and still have a quality young PG. Rubio and his agent should be very very happy in going to such a huge market in New Jersey.

ATL trades away their starting center, but gets a very good PG. with Bibby gone, Hawks might have enough to get a center in FA, or trade for Kaman, or Mullen at the 19th pick. (maybe some sort of Tyson Chandler trade)

Not bad. Harris' scoring #s are inflated because he plays on a bad team but maybe his shooting %s are deflated for the same reason.

The biggest problem with this trade is we'd have no center. You'd have to trade for a center before you made this because, after, the price would go through the roof.

Naw, I like Horford a lot. He's going to be a good player. I'd rather trade JSmoove and get a true big.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

HAHA, some of these ideas are ridiculous. Harris is viewed as probably the 3rd best PG in the league behind Paul and Williams, especially if you consider age...and a key component of their team...and a reason they might be able to land a coveted 2010 FA.

you would have to be nuts not to trade al horford for devin harris. Horford has no offensive game and struggles at time defensively.

New Jersey and Memphis laugh. We obviously do this since we would be set at the point for ten years. Devin Harris would work well with Joe Johnson and Josh Smith.

Jarvis Hayes has a player option that would need to be accepted and that can't happen until free agency. So, Memphis just drafts Ricky Rubio and holds him? Not a likely scenario to happen.

depends on which side of the fence you are on the Rubio hype........ is he the next Jason Kidd? or are you like me, who thinks Ricky is a poor man's Shawn Livingston.

but anyway, if you are one of the people who 6 months ago, thought that Rubio is better than Derrick Rose, then why would that hurt in getting FAs? wouldn't that even help more?

BTW; Harris is #3?..... you really don't think that much of Rose, Billups, or Parker?

all Griz fans love a Horford for #2 pick (on realgm)

Nets fans are 50/50 on the Harris for Rubio deal.

Another reason for NJ not to do it.

Devin Harris: 8,400,000, 8,981,000, 9,319,000, 8,500,000

IF MEM really likes Horford for the #2, do we take it and draft Thabeet? Woodson's not going to develop Horford or use him offensively, so why not consider a purely defensive center?

My biggest worry would be a drop in rebounds.

Thabeet and Zaza (for the really strong centers) -- I kinda like that. Y'all know I think Horford is going to be fine ... but the defensive improvement would make me pause. Thabeet and Smoove blocking shots....

I'd have to ask MEM for an extra pick, though.

Not suggesting anything, just asking: does anyone know when we could trade Smoove to MEM? Is it for one year (and therefore ending in July) or is it forever?

If we can eventually trade him to MEM this offseason, we could come to an agreement with MEM, have them draft Thabeet and finalize the deal later (with a bunch more coming to us).

Thabeet and Horford? Do we like that?

I don't think we can trade Smith to Memphis this year.

As far as Horford for the 2nd, i don't know. I haven't seen Thabeet or Rubio play.

uhh...no. The only thing that changes in july is Smiths BYC status.

The 1 year that we cannot trade Smith to MEM expires 1 year to the day after we exercised our right of 1st refusal and matched his contract. He signed MEM offer sheet on 8/8/08 and it took us only a day or 2 to match. Hence, I'm guessing the restriction expires on 8/10/09 or thereabouts...

Horford is overrated. He's probably not even worth a lottery pick.

Keep Horf and sign Sessions. He's a perfect fit.
