Boston Globe lists Hawks as one of 4 teams interested in Camby.
This would shore up our interior defense, improve our rebounding, provide more of a veteran presence come playoff time.
And I think Horford is the perfect complement to camby in the frontcourt. The only center we reasonable have a chance at, that would be a better fit, is Tyson Chandler.
The shot blocking and offensive rebounding either of these guys can provide would be a much needed improvement.
Reminds me of Mutombo at the end of his Hawks career.

Matching salaries is the hardest part.
Perhaps a Childress S&T?

Speedy, Acie, and Morris work salary wise. I just don't see how the Hawks can make up the value without incuding draftpicks

Throw in #47 if that's what it takes. Might be able to expand the trade, both teams have moveable pieces.

Re: ATL interested in Veteran center
a late second rounder wouldn't help. Its a shame that the Clippers don't have their second round pick- maybe flipping the 19 for the 32 would have been enough.
Its probably the 19 with something else small coming back to the Hawks or the Hawks sending a protected first rounder in the future. In other situations a pick swap option would work but the Clippers aren't likely to have a better record than the Hawks any time soon.
THe bigger question is whether people here would rather have Kaman or Camby. Honestly I think their trade values are pretty equal at this point.

I like both. Camby offers better D, Kaman better O and passing. If they have equal value, I'd go with Kaman, he's younger and with Horf/Smoove, MW and Zaza, we would be OK on the boards.
I think a move like this would have made a big difference last season. They've got to make it this year.
Draft PG.
Sign MW, Flip and Zaza. Bring in a PG like Sessions or Felton.
Above trade for Kaman.
That's my happy Hawksfan plan.
Kaman / Zaza /Horford
Horford / Smoove / Hunter
Smoove / MW / Mo
JJ / Mo / Flip
Sessions / #19 / Flip

Detroit will have first 'dibs' on all of these bigs we're discussing because of their cap flexibility.

TB...you can't realistically sign Flip and make a reasonable offer to Sessions or Felton. We only have the MLE to work with. There are also a few other things that are pretty redundant like re-signing Zaza when you have Kaman and re-signing Marvin if your plan is to start Smith at the 3.

Meaning teams will wait to see if DET signs Boozer before establishing their asking prices.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Getting Kaman or Camby is no getting a guy like Yao. They are not supposed to start, or if we want to start them, we can let Horford coming from the bench.
At least, he could be a very good 6th man with all his energizer attitude.
Maybe Kaman would like to start, but I think Camby would be with a big role, and playing 25-30 minutes behind Horford and Smith is a big role. It's not like being a 10 minutes backup.
This is the kind of big we need to trade for and I still regret we did not trade for Brad Miller this season, who bring a lot coming from the bench for CHI.
It would have certainly cost Zaza, but if we get Kaman or Camby, there is a possibility that Zaza would walk away.

That's not my point...it would be a waste of resources. In his proposal he has us getting Kaman while keeping Marvin,Smith, and Horford. There is no point in re-signing Zaza(for the money he is worth on the open market)when he wouldn't even be in the rotation in that proposed lineup. You get someone like Jake Vohsul or Brian Skinner to fill that role for the minimum.

Oh, my bad. I guess we can(t sign Flip. No biggie. Smoove might start at SF, but I'd give him most of his minutes at PF. Zaza isn't redundant. He's the difference. Add Kaman without Zaza and we are still missing a front court rotation player.
