19th pick for Mike Conley

Post#1 » by Harry10 » Fri May 29, 2009 9:57 am

i'm really not sure how draft night is going to pan out and Conley could be on the trading block. two years later his value has seem to drop because it appears he is not the next Paul or Deron, and Jennings and Lawson's stock seems to be going up. i'm not sure exactly what other teams would offer for Mike, but it seems to be low if the Griz end up taking Rubio.

What's the point of making these lopsided proposals as if someone here is going to dislike the trade for the Hawks?. Just because someone isn't the next Paul or Deron doesn't mean you trade him for the 19th pick. Don't they have picks from Houston and and Lakers(in addition to their own)coming in the next two years as well?

The trade to me would be Speedy, Acie, Randolph and the 19th pick for Conley and Jaric and I still think the Grizzlies would turn it down. Of course I would do the 19th pick for conley. I would do the 19th pick plus next year's protected first rounder.

^^ i don't know, but i have seen alot weirder, more lop sided trades happen in the NBA

i don't know what's Conley's real value is (because market value is alot different) but Mike's value in realgm is pretty low:

MEM might be able to get more from Mike, maybe even a higher draft pick, but it seems like teams with picks from 6-18 are set at PG or like Lawson, Flynn, and Jennings more than Conley.

I thought you couldn't trade your own consecutive 1st rounders in the same trade.

Lawson is actually slipping Harry. I haven't seen Jennings live but I don't know why he's ranked over Flynn on every list. They both have great quickness and good court vision. They both are very small and need to improve their jumpshots...but Flynn was the best point guard in the big east while Jennings didn't do anything in Europe. If I'm looking for a pg(regardless of the system) then I'd easily take Conley over Jennings....Conley has already proven he can shoot at the NBA level while there is still a chance Jennings is just another Telfair...a pg who isn't a threat from the perimeter and is just too small to finish inside consistently.

19th for Mike Conley? Memphis would pass and probably counter wanting Al Horford.

-One player who really doesn’t seem to have very much positive buzz these days is Ty Lawson. “Injury prone” one assistant GM calls him. “A backup point guard…he’s 100% behind Jonny Flynn” another NBA representative says. “He’s a product of North Carolina’s system” a third told us. Lawson seems to be outside of the lottery at the moment, but still has a good chance to be picked by two teams looking for point guards in the late teens, Philadelphia (#17) and Atlanta (#19). He’ll have to keep Eric Maynor at bay, though.

The only way 19 for Conley could work is if we are taking on jaric's bad deal and possibly add in some mroe.

mike conley has already proven himself to be **** in the nba.

might as well roll the dice on a pg in the draft

HG- If the Hawks waited until draftnight they could let the grizzlies pick the player for the 19th pick and then send the rights to next year's first rounder as well. The only stipulation is that you can't trade consecutive first round draftpicks- but if the deal is done draftnight after the pick is made then there isn't any problem.

I wouldn't write him off yet as some PGs take time to blossom. Not everyone steps in with a Chris Paul impact. Having said that I'm not sure Conley has any better game than the many PG prospects in this year's draft. For instance I would give the edge to Patty Mills (who most likely will still be available at #19) on overall game based on the Olympics and watching St. Mary's play last year.

It's a moot point though. They aren't under pressure to deal Conley even if they draft Rubio. He still has 2 years on his rookie deal and it isn't like they have any other PGs (they traded Lowry and Crittendon last year).

Conley had a pretty good 2nd half of the season once he got the starting job and Ivaronni was fired. I wouldn't exactly call him ****

I'd take him in a minute. Good defensive skills, physical talents that can't be taught, interesting 3pt production once they committed to him. He'd fit in well with us.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.
