How would we (if healthy) have done against Orlando?

Better (because of better match ups, series goes 7)

How would we have done against Orlando?

Post#1 » by evildallas » Sun May 31, 2009 9:02 pm

As I watched the Cleveland/Orlando series I kept feeling that the Cavs were just unlucky to run into a team with bad match ups for them and would have taken down Boston with ease. It's just not Dwight Howard because realistically who has the big man to match up with him over a whole series. The areas that I thought they also had problems were covering a fast PF with range to shoot from anywhere and lack of size at SG. As that series ended it made me wonder if the Hawks (if healthy) could have done as well or better than the Cavs. Admittedly we don't have a star like Lebron to carry us offensively, but we have size at the 2, speed at the 3 and 4 to match up better defensively. We don't have the bodies to throw at Dwight Howard, but I'm not sure that he could have done any more damage to use than he managed against Cleveland. Strictly on talent and experience we aren't better and that's obvious given the Cleveland sweep of us, but match ups can really affect a series. What do you think?

if Marvin and Horford were healthy, the Hawks could have taken the Magic and Cavs to 7 games.

lol

We would have been swept. Our team: Is not very good. Is undersized. Cant score consistently against good defensive teams. Gets Outrebounded regularly. Doesn't win on the road. (1-8 road playoff record last two years.)

We arent very good. We're not even in the class of ORL. This ridiculously painful post season has proven that.

I think we would win a game or MAYBE two at home against the Magic. Although I still feel that they would have controlled the series from start to finish.

I remember that not long ago some Hawks fans around here saying we were better than the Magic. We are not only worse, but much worse. They would've swept us, just like the Cavs did. They have a very well defined strategy (we do not), they have a dominant big man (we do not), their fowards can create and shoot, they got a reliable bench, but most important, they believed they could win that series and I'm just happy for them. I totally disagree that the key factor in that series was bad matchups for the Cavs. The Magic are just better. Out of the 4 best players in that series, 3 are Magic.

1. James
2. Howard
3. Turkoglu
4. Lewis ( He's not worth his contract, but he's a heck of a player)
GO HAWKS.

The execution in our 7 post season losses was atrocious.

Look at what HOU managed to so minus Mutombo, Yao, TMac.

With JJ, Bibby and Smoove we should have been able to AT LEAST execute the offense.

Every single postseason loss has been horrific. That 1st round series against MIA was one of the worst displays of basketball Ive ever seen. After ten years of rebuilding, we are at last....mediocre. :(

Marvin and Horford, while promising players in their own right, dont make us elite.

Um, the execution in our 7 post season losses - of our team shackled by 3 injured players - was atrocious.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

At full health (that means Joe too) we could have won a game easily, on the outside 2, on the far outside 3. We have the height and speed to throw out at their forwards and guards, Al could run with Dwight helping keep him from just sprinting to deep position in the post and Zaza would give 6 frustrating fouls and a stray elbow. In the end it's the Magic's depth that would kill us as they have more talented Bigs and PGs to throw out at us.
