The Hawks played .500 ball during that stretch, despite the fact that the majority of those games were on the road.
Horford's per36 stats during that stretch: 12.5 pts, 9.1 rebs, 2.7 asts, 2.2 blks 50.0% eFG, 3.2 FTM
Smith's per36 stats for the season: 16.0 pts, 7.4 rebs, 2.5 asts, 1.7 blks, 50.8% eFG, 3.1 FTM

If I remember correctly, Horford has a monter 20/20 game in Chicago in Smoove's first game out of the lineup. But after that he was completely exposed on the offensive AND defensive end without Josh playing alongside him imo.

Click the links below and you can see Al Horford's numbers by looking over his game log. Look at the dates that Al played and compare them to win Josh sat out.
Al didn't play during the following games: Nov 19th, Dec 6th, Jan 11th-31st and April 15th.
Al Horford
Josh didn't play during the following games: Nov 9th-29th and Feb 25th.
Josh Smith
Al didn't play during the following games: Nov 19th, Dec 6th, Jan 11th-31st and April 15th.
Al Horford
Josh didn't play during the following games: Nov 9th-29th and Feb 25th.
Josh Smith

seems like Josh out did Horford. I know you all hate Josh when he post up at the three point line but you have to admit when he is on top of his game we win. and Horford doesn't give us that. He plays well and I love his game but he is just not a star to me. to add, I feel if the hawks had more scores then Josh wouldn't have to try to score. if he was the third or fourth option. then he could just be a defensive force.

Re: can someone post this stat for me?
Huh? The Hawks were 6-10 in regular-season games that Horford played less than 10 minutes in, and 6-8 in the same situation with Josh Smith. That means the Hawks were 41-25 when Horford played 10 minutes or more this season.
I've already shown that Horford's averages without Smith were comparable to Smith's season averages. Add to that the fact that Smith's replacement during those games was the uber-talented Solomon Jones, and the argument that Al is not essential to Hawks' wins is bunk.

Question #1. How often is Smith " On the top of his game " ?
Question #2. Haven't you watched the Hawks enough to learn that there's no way Smith would accept being the 3rd, 4th option on this team ? I have.
The Hawks will eventually part ways with Smith or Horford if they want to contend. They do not offer Howard any resistence. I don't care how athletic or nice he can dunk. Smith hurts the Hawks in many ways. Horford isn't a star. He's not even close to it, but he brings the little things it takes to win big in this league.
GO HAWKS.

If we had someone on this team that could actually score I think Josh would not have a problem with being the 3 option..... he doesn't complain when Flip and JJ are in the game together. But we just don't have any other options.

Al has handled playing the 5 very well. He doesn't get frustrated and continues to be a team player. It's time to change things up and put him into position to be a starting 4, or move him so he can start at his natural position. I prefer Al over Josh Smith at the 4 for us and I believe Al would make just as big of an impact. We would possibly take a step back until Al's game develops, but after five seasons we continue to wait for Josh to develop and for him to control his emotions.
I would also be fine with trading Al Horford and keeping Josh Smith. For me it just depends on which one acquires us the most value.

I have a problem with Marvin Williams only attempting 10 field goals per a game. If Marvin's on the team next season he needs to have between 13-15 attempts per game. The only reason for Josh Smith to have more attempts is if he's driving inside for dunks.
