Rumored Amare Stoudemire To Wizard & Boston

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Wed Jun 3, 2009 5:13 am

Two rumors:

There is yet another rumor running around about one of the Phoenix Three being traded. Over the weekend we saw reports that the Suns might send Amare Stoudemire - yes, here we go with Stoudemire trade rumors again - to the Washington Wizards for Antawn Jamison, the expiring contract of Mike James, and the #5 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. If this trade happened Washington would be very dangerous as long as they stay healthy.

Not sure if this is entirely speculation, but it is being talked about (Gambo & Ash) on the radio as I write this. No sources mentioned, so take it as such. They did mention that Boston initiated the proposal, and that the Suns have not made a comment on it as of yet.

On the surface, I don't like the trade. And I think most Celtics fans would feel the same way. On the flip-side, Phoenix fans are calling in, saying that Amare alone is worth Rondo and Allen. My question - where the hell would Perk play? Unless there's more to this, it makes little sense for the C's. However, this is the type of haul that Ray Allen's expiring contract, and another piece or two (not Rondo, by the way), could bring. Link

those are some okay trades, and i think talent wise, a Horford package is just as good or even better than those trades (when you take into account age and contacts)

Amare, Caron, and Arenas could be good, but i don't think it is that much better or worst than Jamison, Caron, and Arenas, especially when you take into factor what a good character guy and leader that Jamison is (unlike Amare's leadership).

the Rondo for Amare trade doesn't really make that much sence, because regardless if Rondo or Amare is in for the Celtics, BOS is not going to the finals unless KG is healthy.

That Boston scenario is a joke. That makes zero sense for either team.

I don't know. The deal could be good for BOS. BOS could go big, with Stoudemire at 4, Garnett at 3, Pierce at 2 or they could go fast by moving each up one slot. Plus, the bench fits that style of play. For BOS, the appeal would be getting their big 3 younger (Stoudemire for Allen). For PHO, the deal's not so good. This sounds like BOS's initial offer, with PHO's response to come.

The idea's not bad at all when you consider that Allen is on his last legs. Rondo is a very good player but no more than that.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

A team like Boston who stresses defense isn't going to move all those players out of positon just to incorporate a bad defender/rebounder like Amare. Garnett is 33 and coming off knee surgery...there is no chance in hell he could play SF.

Rondo is also looking like he has the potential to be a smaller version of Jason Kidd. He is easily a better fit for Boston than Amare on a max contract.
