GM the hawks this off season Contest.
What would you do and how would you build the hawks for the 2009/2010 Season. Would you blow this team up, make minor moves, add some key players, or leave team as is? You all by now know what I would do. So lets see who has good ideas.

Trade: Speedy and Zaza to NO for Chandler and their no. 1 draft pick.
Draft: Earl Clarke and Eric Maynor
With the MLE sign a guy like Odom, Wilcox, Marion, Verajao
Mike Bibby/ Eric Maynor
Joe Johnson/ Ronald Murray
Josh Smith/ Maurice Evans/ Marvin Williams
Al Horford/ Earl Clarke
Tyson Chandler/ MLE F-C
I like the twin towers effect those guys would have, Doesnt scream finals for this coming year but the next year that team would be ECF team.

you must not like Marvin Williams too much. He wouldn't be that far down the depth chart.

This team won't be blown up...Rick Sund is not known for many major moves in his career. His claim to fame: Payton for Ray Allen. Don't expect him to strike gold again.
- Bibby is the key; how much of a pay cut will he take? I don't see him taking less than $9-10M on a 2 year contract.
- Marvin gets his QO minimum; signing him to long-term might impact your upcoming talks with JJ and Al.
- Keep Flip Murray and Zaza for reasonable numbers.
We still need a vet big man and a PG to groom. I like the Chandler thought.
I wouldn't mind it, but would like us to get into the lottery next year to try and pick up John Wall and solidify that position for years. Not gonna happen though.

lunar's offseason plan
Draft - Jeff Teague, Some Euro Guy
teague takes over for flip murray (don't see him coming back) and we draft some guy that isn't going to be added to the payroll (i'm thinking Euro Point Guard)
Free Agency
Bibby walks. i think he is gonna go somewhere west. (Dallas could be a dark horse)
so i say we look at Ramon Sessions. he young and he's shown that he can play this game for two years now. we go at him with everything we can (i'll even look at SnT opportunities)
resign pachulia and williams-those two are gonna be too hard to replace.
trade speedy to the sixers for reggie evans. the sixers clear up their logjam and get a free peek at speedy. they could prob use his contract at the deadline. for us though we get the bruiser we need.
lastly i would sign anthony johnson to the minimum so that woody would have a stopgap early in the season in case the new point guards find it hard to adjust. also resign mario. the city loves the guy and he's cheap.
PG-Sessions/ Law (Could be traded for Sessions)/ Johnson
SG- Johnson/ Teague/ West
Sf- Williams/M. Evans
PF-Smith/R. Evans
C- Horford/Pachulia/Morris

Lunar- what kind of S&T do you think that the Bucks would accept for Sessions? Because in your plan you basically have him giftwrapped onto the roster without giving up anything. THere is no way they would accept acie and Speedy for him.

Re: GM the hawks this off season Contest.
What would I do or what do I think Sund is going to do?
Me: I don't really like the makeup of the team. A lot of square pegs in round holes and even then, the parts are still mismatched to each other. I'd try to build around Horford and Marvin and see what happens. Smith and JJ would go to the highest bidder with young pass-1st PGs, defensive Cs, and long range bombers @ SG as priorities on the return - '10 draft picks would also be welcome. Maybe Smith for Rubio (maybe more)? Maybe JJ to DEN, BOS, or WAS? Could we legitimately get something in a Bibby SNT? As far as FA, throw the entire MLE with a PO before year 4 to Gortat, Session, whoever else fits. Sell them on PT and the ability to bail with Bird Rights. Hopefully, get a taker whose team won't match. Yeah, we'd take a step back now, but with some astute scouting and shrewd negotiations, we could really lay a strong foundation for a very good team in the near future by trading those 2 and retaining Marvin and Horford.
Sund: Play it close to the vest, attempt to resign our own, maybe get a nice piece in FA. I'm guessing his goal this off-season is to get an extra backup @ every position (PG, wing, big). Not a bad plan, but is it enough to get us to the upper echelon in the East? Hopefully...

Re: GM the hawks this off season Contest.
we would prob have to give up law and speedy in which case we would have to give up on reggie evans, but could pick up milwaukee backup center francisco elson. that would make teague and johnson more vital to the team.
i'm pretty sure that they aren't going to get much more for him. teams aren't giving up valuable pieces to the bucks and all of the deals are expiring so they aren't picking up bad contracts.
pg-sessions/johnson
sg-johnson/teague/west
sf-williams/evans
smith/elson
horford/pachulia/morris
i'd rather have reggie evans, but i'd live with elson.

Sessions seems up in the air. Some Bucks fans say they want him back and the management likes him, others say differently.
