Hey guys, I'm an Orlando Fan and have no plans on making a trade thread or a should the Magic bring Josh Smith to OTown thread. I'm genuinely curious about a Josh Smith all-around scouting report. Observations from casual fans, in depth from super basketball smart people and hopefully even a character assessment. When I talk BBall with friends, I want to be able to speak confidently about Josh Smith because as I'v eatched him, I never know how to feel. One minute he's super awesome, the next he leaves me scratching my head. How do you guys feel?

You've got it right. He's a very, very erratic player with the potential still to be an All Star. He's got the athleticism, skill, and SOMETIMES the work ethic, so he will continue to get better since he's still pretty young. His game is based all on his athleticism, with slashing and getting easy baskets in the transition being the main source of his points. Unfortunately, he's lately been settling for too many jumpers, but his jump shot has been improving as well. He's a very good 1 on 1 defender in the post and on the perimeter, and also a solid help side defender. He's a great shot blocker and gets you a decent amount of steals per game. His handles on the other hand are terrible, which also causes a lot of TO's. If he were to understand that he's an inside guy and use his quickness to play inside, he can easily become a 25/12/2/2/2 guy, even as the 2nd option on a team. He's best suited for an uptempo offense.

I appreciate that. I never know how to place him. A lot of times, I feel like he's a brilliant young player who can be a multiple all-star. Other times I just shake my head when people talk about him. I guess I just wanted to know if he's truly that polarizing. Thank you for the review
