I've got 2 answers for that question:
First, it's too soon to say. He's been gone 1 year and has 2 more on a contract that will pay him more than anyone would pay here. If those two years are really successful he'll probably have an opportunity to continue working abroad. If those two years don't go that well then he's likely to return to the NBA and work on adding to his NBA pension.
Second, my gut is that he plays out his contract and then returns to the NBA in the summer 2011. My reasoning is that by then his rights are likely to have been renounced as the Hawks are in a position to attempt other moves in 2010. Also, I don't see him as ever able to live up to the expectations in Europe. I know that his team's fan base want to win over their arch-rivals (passionately) and that would help make his stay easier. They also want the best team possible and to be paid so much they naturally want more bang for their buck. I'm not saying he has to be a scoring machine, but to be the highest paid player in Europe they expect him to dominate (and that isn't Childress).
