Amare?

With the Warriors being unwilling to deal Curry in a deal surrounding Amare, could we jump in and acquire him? My question is, what could we give up for him? It would pretty much be 100% that Josh Smith would be included in a deal, and they could ask for Horford too. I'd really want to get him, because not only does he make our team stronger, but he is still pretty young. I know his defense is talked about all the time as being weak, but he has averaged 20+ the past three seasons, and rarely gets in foul trouble, which is surprising for a big man. It would make us a contender in the East, so it baffles me that I haven't heard our name involved for him since we went after him a couple years ago. Thoughts on Amare? Maybe I overrate him, but I think he'd easily put us at least 50 wins.

Isnt he a FA in 2010, so we cant keep both Joe and Amare, while Josh is locked for a while. I just heard Chris Broussard talking about this trade and that the Hawks were interested and Josh Smith would be involved. Hes not going to the Warriors and the Suns are keen on dump all their salaries, so now is the time to swoop. I dont know what wed do in 2010 though!

A deal with Golden State has probably been reached that includes Brandan Wright, Andris Biedrins and fillers.

Any deal hinges on Amare signing an extension. Golden State isn't doing the deal for the risk of 1 year and done. The rumored deal with Golden St. contains more pieces than we could hope to match. Biedrins, Wright, Belinelli, Azubuike and I would guess that if Curry won't be included that Phoenix will demand a future pick with low enough protection (top 6 maybe?) to equal the value of the pre-draft value of the pick that was being discussed (#7).

What would we have to offer? Josh Smith, Al Horford, Mo Evans, Jeff Teague, and a future 1st? That's as close to the Golden St offer as I can figure and that seems like way too much to me.

Curry was the centerpiece of that trade for the Suns the only other sure starter was Biedrins .I think that deal is dead is hes not included .

We would have to add either a resigned Marvin or Childress to make it work with Teague and Smith .

I don't think Curry was the centerpiece because I don't think Curry was expected to be available. I'm sure the #7 was supposed to return the player that Phoenix wanted, but Curry's availability caused Golden State to run an audible. I also think people are undervaluing Brandan Wright in the deal. He's underutilized so far, but I attribute that to his coach having ADD or some form of dementia. Based on the times I saw him I would expect him to blossom with steady PT.

here is what you do..... offer Horford and contracts to both the Suns and Raptors (no extention) ....... which ever one accepts, then you take it.

if that doesn't work, then offer Horford and Marvin to the Suns and Raptors again (no extention) ....... which ever one accepts, you take.

if they decline again, then you just go to the Clippers and work something out their with Kaman or Camby...... if nothing reasonable can be worked out, then i'm okay to going into the season with Horford/Josh/Marvin/Joe/Jama

What would we have to offer? Josh Smith, Al Horford, Mo Evans, Jeff Teague, and a future 1st? Whoa....I like Amare but giving up all these guys to get him is to much.

Maybe Marvin Williams, Jeff Teague and three future first round picks. Hmm... :D

I don't think a team of:
Crawford/JJ/Marvin/Amare/zaza wins 50. Who is going to play post D?

Chris Broussard said that Josh is the key to the deal. All this other stuff your talking about wont happen.

That's my point. That is roughly what Golden State is offering adjusted for who we have on our team. They are paying a big price.

Over on HawksSquawk, they are tossing around a much smaller offer of Josh Smith and a 1st (probably would require Mo Evans as filler). I don't see how that offer is better than the Warriors offer unless they are totally in love with Josh Smith.

Doing some maths, I did see that Amare's next season salary is 16,378,325, and that if you do 125% of it + 100,000, you goes to 20,572,906, so just over the 20,160,000 made by Smith+Crawford.

Your thoughts on something based on that (said he signs an extension, and depending the amount of the extension) ?
It would also need to keep Bibby.

Harder, we can add both PGs, Bibby sign and traded, and Nash extended too, and it works too (Amare+Nash would need at least 23,522,660 coming from ATL, so Bibby at more than 3,362,660 (easy).
This option could be not as good as the first since Nash doesn't fit Woodson offense, we would need to get D'Antoni too.

I think the key to any Amare trade is saving Phoenix money.

Phoenix is obviously waiting to see if anyone can beat GS's offer.

Nelson & GS are gambling that no one does. therefore, GS keeps Curry out of the deal. To me, it seems Nelson is right. No one else has reportedly offered a similar deal - and Phoenix will take the best it can get.

Rumors have the Bulls offering Tyrus Thomas & Deng - but GS already has offered a better player than both with Biedrins in their deal.

what about a deal like

Suns Trade
Amare
Ben Wallace

Suns Get
Horford
Smith
Mo evans

Atl Trades
Mo
Horford
Smith

ATL Gets
Chandler
Amare

No trades
Chandler

No Gets
Ben wallace(the hornets are willing to deal him for bens exp. and then buy him out for cheaper)

there would have to be some fillers thrown in for salarys to work

Nope. Suns want talent. That's why they won't do the GS deal w/o Randolph or Curry involved. Relief came from the Shaq deal.

Stoudemire waiting for decision

Amaré Stoudemire's camp has not heard from any other NBA team about the possibility of acquiring him or any interest in securing his future with a contract extension.

Stoudemire's agent, Charles Grantham, said he would like to hear a commitment from one team in particular - the Suns.

"Either he's in or out," Grantham said Sunday while in Phoenix. "You're going to have to really make a commitment to him that he's part of your program going forward and that you're going to work around him. Those decisions seemingly are still up in the air. They are going to have to be made at some point. You'll have to talk about either committing to him or trading him.

"Those discussions haven't happened yet."

Discussions about trading Stoudemire have happened. A deal with Golden State unraveled after Thursday's draft over the Warriors' unwillingness to part with No. 7 pick Stephen Curry. A Suns-Warriors trade remains possible with something added to the package of Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright and Marco Belinelli.

The commitment Stoudemire is seeking from the Suns is more than just being told he won't be traded. He wants a contract extension when he is eligible later this summer. Grantham considers Stoudemire a maximum-salary player worth an extension averaging more than $20 million per season.
