David Andersen reported to headed this way?

A Spanish site is reporting this. I'll believe it when he's in uniform, having heard this stuff before.
It's a rough read, but they mention possibly losing Zaza to another team like San Antonio due to the number of free agents we have to deal with.

^^^That's still just speculation at this point, but it certainly makes sense for the Hawks. Having Andersen and Pachulia would not be a problem, and if Zaza leaves, you have a backup big to replace him. (And still have a good part of the MLE left over).

I agree that it's just speculation. As I said, I'll believe a David Andersen story only after he's in a Hawks uniform having heard such speculation for years. At least we have a firm deadline of July 15th on this one. Same deadline for Josh Childress to get out of his deal as well if he wants to return to the NBA.

I really hope Andersen is not the solution our team has found for our inside game. He has great quality, back to the basket moves and a soft touch from any range, but he is extremely week in defense, has no rebound at all and is no factor in blocking shots although he is 6-11 1/2.
I would leve zaza walk or may be stay at a reasonable price, but I would spent our money in Gortat or Bass.

^^^IDK about you but im definately taking Zaza over Gortat and Bass. Zaza is exactly what this team needs.

Gortat has already made his plans and Bass is an undersized albeit effect PF and not a solution at C.
I'm hopeful for the resigning of Zaza and the addition of Andersen for just part of the MLE. I'm also not ready to give up on the idea of Leon Powe at a bargain price as a long term investment (although I doubt the team does both Andersen and Powe).
Zaza provides a banger while Andersen can stretch the D while having the height to man the position defensively. Looking at the main bigs in our conference we have can't necessarily go straight at them on the offensive end (as we learned with Jermaine O'Neal last year). Some need to be run like Shaq and Jermaine, some need drawn away from the basket like Howard, and some you can bang with like Perkins or Haywood. Flexibility and depth is something we haven't had at the position and I would welcome.

I think the Hawks should sign try to both. The combination of the bench is promising.
The problem will be the luxury tax...

Andersen is a PF in Europe. I don't think he would replace Zaza at C.

The thought was to use him in conjunction with Zaza, not to replace. There are certain scenarios where we'd want to play him at C offensively to draw the defense out like Brad Miller is used.
I also forgot to say this is the annual floating of a story about how he's about to come to the NBA to get a little more from whatever his situation is in Europe. I really don't expect him to come over this time either. I just wanted to share the story I stumbled upon.

KWSN-Man is a defensive prick when it comes to Olympiacos.

I think he's incredibly frustrated that it's taken this long for the Hawks to bring him over, it hasn't been him holding out it's been the Hawks.
The story goes that your former GM was going to finally bring him over just before he got fired and Sund decided he wanted to look at him for another season before doing it, which p*ssed Andersen off no end. He's been desperate to play in the NBA for a very long time despite making much more money in Europe, that I know for sure.
Oh and I have to agree with an earlier poster, he's much more of a PF than a C imo.

That is very contrary to what we heard either last summer or the year before. What was reported to the Hawk fans was that they sent him an offer and DA basically balked at it figuring that he deserved much more to come over and play. Basically he wanted to be paid before he could prove himself the NBA.

Yeah conflicting sources I'm guessing. As I heard it your previous GM (who's name escapes me sorry) had finally decided it was time to bring him over much to Andersen's relief, however before he could offer him the deal Sund was hired and backed out of it, much to Andersen's disgust.
I also heard 3rd or 4th hand that he'd asked them to trade his rights but they'd refused several teams with several offers, but I can't back that up with sources. Essentially my understanding is that the guy has been stuck playing in Europe for several years because the Hawks just refused to do anything with him. Having heard him speak several times he's never hidden his desire to play in the NBA - I guess he never would have entered the draft in the first place if he didn't want to.
You may be correct btw and he may have been given an offer at some point, but of course that offer may not have been realistic. He does earn a lot of money in Europe but I'm sure he'd play in the NBA for less, although I do think he's worth more than the average bench scrub as he'd be a solid asset.
Having a bit of a search I just found this on DX which seems to back at least some of that account up.

Since when are personal attacks allowed here? Especially ones that have nothing to do with the topic at hand?

Don't take the attack from him as indicative of the Hawks board. He's been posting here for about three weeks just to say that Childress is signing in Milwaukee and he's been contrary to anyone who says anything different. In your case I think he is responding just to you being an Olympiacos fan and the reality that Childress can return there for more money if he chooses, which is a threat to what he wants to happen (which is for Childress to sign in Milwaukee so they will have a starting SF). The comment in addition to being completely uncalled for is also off base as this thread and your comment were about David Andersen. Perhaps he doesn't realize that Andersen is a 6'11" PF who plays in Spain, not an Olympiacos player.
His actual attack on you also shows a lack of history. While it is obvious that you are a diehard Olympiacos fan, it should be known that we've exchanged posts in the past discussing both the good and bad about Childress and other players performances for Olympiacos (you explained why Pargo was doing so poorly). I've never known your posts to be overly defensive or blindly one-sided. I for one appreciate having someone like you post here who can clue us into the European basketball scene and has taken the time to do so because our franchises have the common element of involvement with Childress.
I won't apologize for his comment because that isn't my place to do so, but I do want to distance the Hawks board regulars from his comments. I've spent enough time on this board to feel confident in saying that personal attacks on other posters isn't how we roll.
