State of the Hawks

Post#1 » by evildallas » Tue Aug 4, 2009 2:13 am

Hoopsworld has gotten to the Hawks on their state of series:

It's a big season for the Hawks in a lot of ways. Fans expect the young guys to show their extra year of experience on the court, and the vets who worked so hard for a contract last year to continue their solid play. If it all comes together, this could be a very exciting year for Atlanta fans. After quite a few years of watching a dismal product, there's finally something good here—meaning the Hawks might not stay under the radar much longer.

Nothing revolutionary, but some complimentary points and a caution about next year free agency.

I don't see us doing much next offseason as many teams won't be doing much. The team we put together this offseason will be the one we walk into next year with outside of a 1st round draft pick and a few bench warmers added. Our cap situation is actually in good shape. By the time Horford come up for his contract Crawford will be gone. JJ will likely be making very similar to what he is making now. All in all we are in good shape roster wise and cap wise.

The caution was about losing Joe to free agency. There will be a lot of teams with money and he might wind up being one of the best available.
