Five playoff teams — the New Orleans Hornets, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers and the Atlanta Hawks — averaged less than 14,000 in actual attendance.
Atlanta handed out a league-high 5,616 complimentary tickets, a strategy most teams use, hoping fans will spend money on food, souvenirs and parking.

It's no huge secret that Miami, Atlanta, and Los Angeles are the worst sports towns in the country. What are you gonna do...

LA as one of the worst sports towns? What?
I think for the Hawks to get real coverage, we'd need to pull a playoffs upset over one of the Big 3, or at the very least take them to 7 in close games. We can't just roll over and die like we did against Cleveland after limping into the second round, that just confirms in many people's minds that we're a pretender, not a contender.

LA's bad rep is primarily for football and showing up late and leaving early at other sports. They don't have issues filling the seats for the Lakers and Dodgers. Can't judge by the Clippers.

last year was the hawks first winning season in forever. it is going to a while to bring all the fans back after all those horrible seasons.

LA is hands down the worst sports town in the country. They are the second biggest market in the country and can't support a pro football team?! That's absurd. Their fans are apathetic and lifeless. Their flagship franchise, the Lakers, has the most dead arena in the league. That place is a morgue even during sellouts. Both the colliseum and rose bowl have ZERO atmosphere and life. The atmosphere has improved since Carroll got to USC, but it still leaves a lot to be desired.
I've never been to a dodgers game, so I can't comment on that. But I've heard dodgers games/fans are pretty awesome.
