I also posted this deal on the trade board. This guys gives the Hawks a real center, so they can move Horford to his natural position, PF, and the Hawks get another good, young scoring SF, who could provide lots of scoring off the bench behind Marvin at SF.

Clippers Get: Green/Morris
Clippers Give: Kaman/Thornton

The Clippers get the perfect SF for their team, while saving a bunch of money.

Hawks Get: Kaman/Thornton
Hawks Give: Smoove/Morris

The Hawks finally get a real center and a good, young scorer in Thornton. Losing Smoove would hurt, but a lot of Hawks fans and even Coach Woodson would not mind losing Smith's immaturity. Morris is just in there as a small filler and the Clips could cut him and he could return to the Hawks for all I care.

Thunder Get: Smoove
Thunder Give: Green

The Thunder have just enough cap room to take in the difference in these contracts, and they get a good defensive upgrade. Smoove is very young and could grow with the young core of the Thunder and he is much more of a natural PF than Green.

LAC has made some extremely dumb moves before, but this one would take the cake. No way they would ever think about this trade... then again they are the Clippers...

Actually I think LAC would like this deal, since Green would be the perfect SF for them between Gordon and Griffin. This deal would also save them about $8 million immediately, and give them a lot of cap flexibility, at a time when other teams might get desperate to move salaries.

Personally, I'm not a fan. It's true that Smoove has some issues both on and off the court, but I'm not ready to give up on him yet. The fact that we have a nice collection of veterans who are still under 25 is one of the things that attracts me to this team. At this point, Thornton is actually older than Smoove, Marvin, Horford, and Zaza who have been playing together for us as long as Thornton has been in the league. Add in Teague to those 4 and we've got the basis of a team that could continue to be one of the most athletic in the NBA for a while yet. Even if we can't break into the big 3 in the East immediately, our window is open for at least 3 more years maybe even 5 or more. I just don't see a Kaman and Thornton combo as so great that I'd pull the trigger on break up that sort of future. Even if these 2 could come in and sync up with the rest of our team (which is prolly doubtful, we really don't have the characters to cover up someone as eccentric as Kaman... and I won't even bother bringing up the injury ? for Kaman or how Thornton's game would fit here), I don't think this trade would make us much better - if at all. We'll still be #4 in the East - just that our window of getting better would be shortened, not lengthened.

Why would OKC even entertain breaking up that young nucleus of Green/Durant/Westbrook/Harden. I just don't see good enough reasons for them to go this route.
