What's the word on Flip Murray?

Any chance he could come back to us, should a trade of some sort occur...or not?

i would love to get Flip back....... i know it is good for a team to have 3 centers, but i would much rather have Flip on the roster than Collins.

Flip is not only a really good player, but also a great leader , i think he is even a better locker room guy that Joe.

I know that Flip might take Teague's minutes, but really, i'm looking and hoping to getting past the second round next year.

Harry,

My simple rebuttal is that Flip has proven to be terrible in the playoffs, even as a veteran. He's the kind of guy you add for the regular season, and that's something that the Hawks no longer appear to need.

I like Flip, but we already have a much stronger version of him in Crawford.

I'd actually like to keep him on the roster, even if solely to play regular season minutes. Joe needs much more rest, and I'd like Jamal to actually be a sixth man, and keep both their minutes low if possible.

Joe Johnson has performed admirably in the postseason when healthy.

If Flip is willing to sign for the minimum with us, there is absolutely no reason not to sign him.

I believe that Flip could have already signed elsewhere if he was willing to take a 1 year deal. This year was all about some teams (like Miami) saving cap room for next summer, so they aren't willing to sign multiple years even at the lower end of the scale. If he changes tune and accepts a 1 year deal then he'd have choices.

For us, I don't believe there is room left at the inn. Signing Flip would most likely set Jeff Teague back by taking his minutes. Not sure Sund wants to risk undercutting his first draft pick with the team. The 2nd concern would be with actual contract impact in terms of exceptions and luxury tax threshold. Sure the minimum would work, but I don't think Flip has settled on accepting that yet. At this point, I'm not sure if the Hawks are willing to utilize an exception given the state of the roster. An exception and room under the luxury tax threshold could be instrumental in a deadline deal or signing. Outside of those concerns, Flip would be great to have on the roster as additional depth for the guard corps in case of injury.

Flip had a good MIA series, and a bad CLE series..... i really don't know how that qualifies him as "terrible"...... espeically when every Hawk had a good MIA series and bad CLE series.

but you would rather have Collins over Flip???

Look at the eFG%, not the number of points. His series in Miami was not good.

^^^ good point. Flip had a great regular season, but rough post season. I believe that is one of the main reasons that Jamal Crawford was acquired to be the 6th man.

I've really been hoping that Flip would come back for a 1 year deal because Mo Evans doesn't do much for me. I think the idea of a 4 man bench of quality(not just "reliable") vets like Crawford,Flip,Smith, and Zaza is pretty appealing if you can get Flip to come close to his 2009 production. I definitely have my doubts if Flip and Crawford's games could coexist...but in that case you would just replace him with Mo Evans in the rotation and keep it moving.

Mo and Flip have completely different roles. Mo boards, defends, slashes open lanes, and takes open 3s. Flip handles and takes people off the dribble. You can't just 'replace' Mo with Flip, their games and roles are not even remotely similar.

I didn't see much slashing or defending from Mo last year...and he's not that good a rebounder. It's not a particular "role" I want filled. All I'm saying is that I would like to see the Hawks try out a rotation with those 4 particular players on the bench. Just plug Mo in there after a month or so if Flip plays like crap and there's no harm done.

I don't see why you guys really need Flip Murray now that you have Jamal Crawford.

Mo's defense is overrated (not a difference maker at all)

Mo's 3pt shooting is alot better than i expected

Mo's ability to run the break and finish is above average.

lastly, Mo is not a bonehead, he really doesn't turn the ball over, he doesn't make bad fouls, he doesn't really make bad plays.

because Mo doesn't make big mistakes and is an excellent 3pt shooter, he really is a quality teammate for Joe
