"Jason provides us with additional size and a good interior defensive presence," Sund said. "He has extensive experience, having started in two NBA Finals with the Nets, and is another player with strong character and leadership qualities."
I really think that's the main reason why they picked him up; well, the character anyways.

Not impressed with him much as a baller, but he does have size and gives 6 more fouls against certain teams.

I think a Desmond Mason signing would make us elite for 20 years.

if you read the thread about the 10 worst teams of the decade, you'll encounter "something called a lee nailon," who somehow lead the New Orleans Hornets in scoring in 04-05, i think. memories.

I've never been impressed with Collins, so if he turns out well, don't say I told ya so, ....
.... buuuuuut, check out this interesting article from SI:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1105478/index.htmFor the lazy, let me cut 'n paste this lil tidbit:
According to Rosenbaum's calculations, Collins is not a stiff at all but one of the NBA's premier defensive centers: the fourth-most effective in the league over the last three seasons, behind only Ben Wallace, Dikembe Mutombo and Theo Ratliff.
Wow. If only it were true. Let me go on record now as saying that, if it does indeed turn out that he plays well for us, I'll gladly proclaim my basketball ignorance.

Hey, it's the offseason. There's not that much out there.
Picky, picky.

Except 4 years is a huge amount of time, and that article isn't even remotely true anymore. You might as well be posting articles about Mike Bibby being one of the best scoring PGs, dropping 20/7/4.

Well I guess the idea is, how far can you fall off in 4 years especially considering the small amount of minute's you'll be playing?
And remember, ATL is the fountain of youth and Woody is the Cortez of that b****. Look at the wonders we did for Bibby and Flip's careers.
